«Breaking News» Trump fires back at cancer-stricken Harry Reid over 'human leech' and 'big fat guy' barbs

President Donald Trump claimed retired Sen. Harry Reid, who's battling cancer, was 'thrown out' of office and had a 'failed career,' as he traded barbs with the Democrat on Monday.

Reid, 79, slammed Trump as a 'human leech' and a 'big fat guy' in a CNN interview that posted that morning that reflected on the former Nevada senator's legacy.

Firing back on Twitter, the Republican president said: 'Former Senator Harry Reid (he got thrown out) is working hard to put a good spin on his failed career. He led through lies and deception, only to be replaced by another beauty, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer. Some things just never change!'

The former Senate Majority Leader retired in early 2017, two years after a fall left him with cracked ribs and broken facial bones. He did not run for reelection the next year, and doctors subsequently diagnosed him for pancreatic cancer.

He revealed in the CNN interview that his cancer is in remission --  but chemotherapy had weakened his spine and required him to have two back surgeries that make it difficult for him to move around. A boxer in his heyday, he uses a walker now.

Reid has become increasingly vocal about his dislike for Trump since the cancer diagnosis, which was assumed to be fatal.

He unloaded on Trump, whose time in office did not overlap with his own, in a January interview with the New York Times magazine.

'Trump is an interesting person. He is not immoral but is amoral. Amoral is when you shoot someone in the head, it doesn't make a difference. No conscience,' Reid told the New York Times.

'I think he is without question the worst president we've ever had,' he continued. 'We've had some bad ones, and there's not even a close second to him.'

'He'll lie. He'll cheat. You can't reason with him,' said Reid, who represented Democrats in countless face-offs with Republicans as both a minority and a majority leader, ultimately helping to push through much of President Obama's agenda.

Reid, a former amateur boxer who once ran the Nevada gaming commission, was asked about comparisons between President Trump and a mob boss. Former FBI Director James Comey and others have made it.

'Organized crime is a business,' Reid said, 'and they are really good with what they do. But they are better off when things are predictable. In my opinion, they do not do well with chaos. And that's what we have going with Trump,' he said.

Reid also flashed his blunt social disposition and occasional breaches of etiquette when greeting Times reporter Mark Leibovitch.

When the reporter, who identifies as Jewish, showed up at Reid's Henderson, Nevada 'McMansion,' Reid pointed to a large gold menorah on his desk.

'I put this out here because I knew you were coming,' he said. Reid's wife, Landra, was born Jewish, but it is unclear whether he put it out for the Channukah-sesason interview or if it was already there.

Reid, who was partially blinded in a home accident involving an exercise band in 2015, also spoke bluntly about his own health and longevity facing cancer.

'As soon as you discover you have something on your pancreas, you're dead,' he said. He received the bad diagnosis in May.

Reid once called former President George W. Bush a 'loser' and a 'liar.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
