Michelle Obama has revealed her mother's hilariously deadpan response to her surprise Grammys appearance - in which she suggested the former FLOTUS is not a 'real star'.
Obama, 55, delighted the audience on Sunday night when she made a surprise appearance at the ceremony in order to speak about female empowerment, while sharing the stage with the likes of Alicia Keys and Lady Gaga.
But her mother Marian Robinson, 81, seemed less than impressed, texting her to say: 'Did you meet any real stars?'
Sharing the text exchange with her 26.4 million Instagram followers, Michelle wrote: 'When your mom doesn't think you're a "real" celebrity.'

81-year-old Marian Robinson (pictured right with Michelle in 2012) hilariously texted her daughter this week asking if she had met 'any real stars' at the Grammy Awards
Obama appeared on stage with Jada Pinkett Smith, Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez to talk about the impact music had had on her life.
The audience were delighted, and she was praised widely online for her stylish Sachin & Babi sparkly silver two-piece.
But her mother texted her two days later, saying: 'I guess you were a hit at the Grammys'.
Obama responded that she was with her husband Barack's senior adviser, Valerie Jarett, writing: 'I am sitting here with Valerie and this text is so typically you. Did you watch it?'
Robinson replied: 'I saw it because Gracie called me. Did you meet any of the real stars or did you run right after you were done?'
The former First Lady shared this text message with her 26.4 million Instagram followers, suggesting her mother doesn't think she is a 'real star'
Robinson seemed to remain unimpressed when Obama called herself 'a real star', replying simply with 'Yeah'. Obama then shared the exchange with her Instagram followers
Michelle ignored her mother's comment, noting that she had told her she would be at the ceremony, to which Marian replied: 'No you did not. I would have remembered that even if I don't remember much.'
Texting the laughing-crying emoji, Michelle reminded her mother of her A-lister status, writing: 'I thought I told you. And I am a real star... by the way'
But Marian seemed to remain unconvinced, replying simply with 'Yeah'.
Obama was a surprise addition to the stage on Sunday, and was widely praised for her speech.

Steal the show like Michelle in a metallic suit by Sachin & Babi
Just when you thought the list of celebrity guests at the Grammy Awards couldn't get any better, Michelle Obama goes and shows up.
She's really been on a roll when it comes to style recently (remember THOSE Balenciaga boots?), and her stylist Meredith Koop has got it spot on again.
The former First Lady joined Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys and Jada Pinkett Smith on stage wearing a metallic trouser suit, which was custom made for her by Sachin & Babi.
It's a version of the relaxed belted floral suit shown in the Pre-AW '19 collection (pictured, right), and if you're tempted to add a bit of Sachin & Babi to your own wardrobe then click (right) to shop the current line.
Or get suited and booted in one of the metallic co-ord sets we've got lined up for you in the edit below.

She talked about how music showed society what matters saying: 'From the Motown records I wore out on the South Side to the "Who run the world" songs that fuelled me through this last decade, music has always helped me tell my story.
'And I know that's true for everybody here, whether we like country or rap or rock, music helps us share ourselves, our dignity, our sorrows, our hopes and joys. It allows us to hear one another, to invite one another in.
'Music shows us that all of it matters, every story, every voice, every note, in every song. Is that right ladies?'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
