A 27-year-old Florida woman has been in a vegetative state for six weeks after she was hit by a car while riding a Lime rental scooter.

Ashanti Jordan was struck by a car in Fort Lauderdale on December 28 near Broward Health Medical Center, where she worked in security. She now lays, unconscious, in the same center's intensive care unit.

'She's not doing good. It's heartbreaking to see her in these conditions. We're praying for her, hoping that the situation gets better over time,' her mother, Tracy Jordan, said to the Sun Sentinel

Ashanti, the oldest of five children and a graduate of Plantation High school, suffered a fractured skull, a severe brain injury and multiple broken ribs. She has also had a portion of her skull removed.

'I just want this nightmare to really be over with, but I understand it's a long process, so I'm trying to be patient and I'm leaning on hope,' Tracy added.

Her family asserts, however, that scooter companies need to do their due diligence in clarifying where users can ride their scooters.

Tracy stated: 'I just can't even stand to see those scooters. It's so traumatizing at this moment. It's like every time I see someone on the scooter, it's like they don't understand the danger behind driving these scooters.'

Four scooter companies operate in the Fort Lauderdale area; Gotcha, Bird, Lime and Bolt. Since they first launched in November, approximately 4,000 people use the scooters on a weekly basis.

Last week, city commissioners listened to complaints from residents but decided to let the scooters stay in use.

Scooter riders are regulated to sidewalks in the city, but the Jordan's lawyer asserts that Lime actually tells its customers the opposite.

Lime's app tells riders not to ride sidewalks at least three times, according to attorney Todd Falzone.

The lawyer also said that the company has writing on their scooters instructing customers not to use them on the sidewalk.

'Lime is telling these riders to break the law. They're telling them don't ride on the sidewalks and then, as a result, these poor folks are in the middle of traffic. They're riding down the roads,' said Falzone on Monday.

In a statement, Lime said that 'our thoughts remain with Ms. Jordan and her family' but would not elaborate on where customers could ride.

At the time of Ashanti's incident, city officials said that customers could ride their scooters in 'streets, parks, sidewalks, etc.'

But on January 17, City Attorney Alain Boileau instructed commissioners that the only acceptable place for users to ride was on sidewalks.

'The language on the scooters is legally incorrect and something that obviously creates confusion and misinformation as it pertains to their use in Fort Lauderdale,' Boileau said in a statement. 'The language will have to change and this is just one of the issues that will be addressed with the scooter companies.'

Falzone said that traffic homicide detectives did investigate the scene, upon seeing the nature of Ashanti's injuries, but no charges have been filed against the car's driver.

Under Florida law, scooters can not be user on the streets, in bike lanes or even on paths. State law also says that scooters can't be used on the sidewalk but that is also up to the discretion of individual cities.

While many cities have blocked the scooters altogether, Fort Lauderdale allowed the companies to rent up to 1,700 scooters in the city.

The lawyer is asking residents to call their legislators to speak out against a proposal that would allow scooters in traffic.

But commissioners in the city are worried about the speed of the scooters - they can go up to 15mph - and how that translates on sidewalks where pedestrians walk.

According to Fort Lauderdale fire-rescue officials, there have been about 35 scooter injuries that they have had to respond to. They involved people ages 14 ro 62 and their were four that fell under the 'Level 1' trauma category.

And the possibility of injury is something that Tracy Jordan hopes persuades other to distance themselves from the scooters.

'I just want everybody in the community to understand this is dangerous and this is wrong,' Tracy said. 'These things can ultimately end your life.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
