«Breaking News» Carson Daly stepping down from Last Call after 17 years to spend more time with his family

He holds the title of the longest active run of hosting a late night talk show. 

And after 17 years in the top seat, Carson Daly is wrapping up Last Call With Carson Daly. 

The 45-year-old TV presenter revealed he would be stepping down to spend more time with his family.

'If you had told me in 2002 I would be a part of the historic NBC late-night family for 17 years, I would have said you were crazy,' he said in a statement. 

'Hard to believe it's been so long — 2,000 episodes. It's time to move on to something new and let someone else have access to this incredible platform.'  

NBC has confirmed that the star will however continue to remain a prominent face of the network with the star continuing his hosting duties on The Voice and Today show.

Carson added: 'My 20s was about finding a good job. My 30s was about taking on as many of them as I could. Now, in my 40s, I'm focused on quality over quantity.' 

'I want to do more with my Today family and continue hosting and producing The Voice and explore new opportunities.'    

The TV star's 1:30am time slot is yet to be filled but THR predicts Chelsea Handler as a potential candidate.

NBC are yet to announce when the last episode will air.  

By the time Last Call wraps, Carson would have recorded 2000 episodes - making him the longest running active host of the same late-night show.  

Last Call premiered in January 2002 and switched to a documentary style series with pre-taped and produced segments. Initially when it premiered it was a traditional talk-show style presentation.    

Carson got engaged to food blogger Siri Pinter in 2013 and the pair wed in December two years later. 

Together they have three children: son Jackson James, nine, and daughters Etta Jones, six, and London Rose, four.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
