«Breaking News» VICE founder Shane Smith routinely takes private jets to Vegas to gamble while tipping over $100,000

Shane Smith is still spending big in Las Vegas while his company goes through another round of layoffs.

The New York Post reports that Smith is flown to Sin City free of charge on jets provided by the Mansion at MGM, where he gambles in private rooms with $25,000 chips known as 'pumpkins' because of their orange color.

He not only gambles big but tips big as well according to the report, handing out as much as $100,000 after a successful outing from his chips or stacks of shrink-wrapped cash.

This is no surprise given a report in 2015 that Smith dropped $300,000 on steak and sushi at Bellagio's Prime Steakhouse in Vegas for the company's board of directors after winning $100,000 on blackjack.

When asked about that claim in an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Smith responded by stating:  'It wasn’t a $300,000 dinner,” he tells me. “It was three eighty, plus tip. I broke the Vegas tip record.'

This latest report of Smith's decadent spending comes as Vice prepares to announce $50 million in losses and layoff 10 percent of its staff.

That same year Smith dropped over $400,000 on dinner, he also bought the property known as Villa Ruchello in Santa Monica.

It is located on 3.35 acres of land and had been previously featured in the television series Entourage.

He and his wife then put millions more into renovating the three homes on the property, which total 14,000 square feet and features 12 bedrooms, 12.5 bathrooms. a pool and stunning views.

This spending all comes amid increasing complaints from employees inside his company.

In December 2017, The New York Times released an expose on the company and its toxic work environment, interviewing multiple women who said that they were grossly underpaid.

'There is a toxic environment where men can say the most disgusting things, joke about sex openly, and overall a toxic environment where women are treated far inferior than men,' former Vice employee Sandra Miller told the Times.

'The misogyny might look different than you would have expected it to in the 1950s, but it was still there, it was still ingrained,' said Kayla Ruble, another former employee.

'This is a wakeup call.'

Meanwhile, on Twitter, Robyn Kanner tweeted a list of what she claims are complaints about the company coming straight from past and present employees at Vice.

Vice made a commitment to 'reaching gender pay parity by the end of 2018, expanded maternity and paternity benefits, and introduced mandatory respect and sensitivity training for all employees.'

It was also reported by the Times that there were at least four settlements involving allegations of sexual harassment or defamation against Vice employees, including the current president, Andrew Creighton.

The Times spoke with more than two dozen women who say they experienced or witnessed sexual misconduct at the company, which has grown from a fringe Canadian culture magazine to a major news outlet.

The alleged episodes included groping and forced kisses.

Smith and co-founder Suroosh Alvi sent a note to staff after the Times expose saying the company let people down in failing to create a safe and inclusive workplace.

'Listening to our employees over the past year, the truth is inescapable: from the top down, we have failed as a company to create a safe and inclusive workplace where everyone, especially women, can feel respected and thrive,' read the statement.

'Cultural elements from our past, dysfunction and mismanagement were allowed to flourish unchecked. That includes a detrimental “boy’s club” culture that fostered inappropriate behavior that permeated throughout the company.'

The statement went on to say: 'It happened on our watch, and ultimately we let far too many people down. We are truly sorry for this.'

That statement came five years after Smith said of the company's early days in an interview: 'I would be at the party and would just want to get wasted, take coke and have sex with girls in the bathroom.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
