«Breaking News» Swiss man declared a millionaire in lotto - only for prize to be taken away due to TECHNICAL ERROR

A Swiss man was declared a millionaire in a lottery on live television - only for the prize to be taken away with organisers blaming a technical error.

Andreas Bürkli's name was pulled out of a drum and read out by German singer Herbert Grönemeyer on the television show Happy Day.

But lottery operator Swisslos later had to apologise and explain to the 'winner' of a million Swiss francs (£800,000) that a mistake had been made due to technical problems.

Ten lots had been entered into a final draw in the hope of winning a million Swiss francs.

In the television lotto, the names of potential winners could be seen on a rolling screen behind the presenter.

All ten potential winners needed to be ready by their phones in the hope of being picked out.

But when some were not contactable, confusion broke out and a lotto official mistakenly put 11 lots into the drum manually, the BBC reports.

When Mr Bürkli's name came up, Grönemeyer called his number - but he did not answer either.

Swisslos said that an error had occurred amid a 'hectic rush' with extra names added into the drum. In the event, the extra name had been drawn out.

An official from the organisation said Mr Bürkli had taken his misfortune well and appeared to have been a 'good sport'.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
