«Breaking News» Surfer is swallowed by enormous waves and has to be rescued after falling off his board

This is the nail-biting moment a surfer falls off his board while riding an enormous wave and has to be rescued.

Footage shows Thiago Jacaré, 35, from Brazil, riding a huge wave in Praia do Norte beach, Nazaré, Portugal, before suddenly losing his balance and falling into the ocean.

Mr Jacaré, who is an experience big wave surfer, is immediately swallowed by a mass of churning white waves and disappears out of sight for several seconds.

The surfer rises to the surface and catches his breath just in time before another gigantic wave pummels his body and he is dragged under.

His teammate, David Langer, can be seen on his jet ski trying to reach Mr Jacaré but he is unable to as it is too dangerous.

Five more enormous waves cascade down upon Mr Jacaré and send him plunging below the surface.

Eventually surfer Sebastian Steudtner, from Germany, manages to rescue his teammate and they speeds off towards the beach as a wave quickly follows at their backs.

Mr Jacaré is seen being helped onto the beach and carried to a stretcher to be taken to hospital.

And despite being pummeled by numerous waves, Mr Jacaré was left unharmed except major exhaustion.

Mr Jacaré said: 'This was by far the worst wipe out of my life, I barely got the chance to breathe between waves.

'When I got to the sand, I was completely exhausted, to the point I couldn't even move.

'I won't ever forget this day!'

Praia do Norte beach has been famous for its huge waves since 2011 when Hawaiian surfer Garrett McNamara set a world record for the largest wave ever surfed.

Mr Jacaré, w...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
