«Breaking News» Old Dominion quarterback will forgo senior season to join the seminary

Old Dominion University quarterback Blake LaRussa will forgo his senior season, but not to join the NFL. Instead the Virginia Beach native will be leaving school to join the seminary.

'It has been an incredible journey with Old Dominion football, but I would like to announce that I will be moving on from football after I graduate this spring and will be going into full-time ministry,' he said in a statement released by the school. 'This fall (2019) I will be going to seminary school to start my Master's of Divinity. I am so grateful for all my coaches and teammates who I have grown so close with these past four years.'

After serving as the Monarchs' starting quarterback in 2017, LaRussa initially lost the job to a freshman this season before returning to the starter's role in Week 4 and ultimately earning Conference USA Honorable Mention honors as Old Dominion finished 4-8.

'What a ride it’s been,' LaRussa wrote on Instagram. 'Gained a lot of brothers these past four years. So much love for these guys and all my teammates and ODU. I’ll be around for another 8 months finishing up my degree, but have decided to go on to seminary school this coming fall!

'When you know what you gotta do, you know what you gotta do. Will miss football and these guys. Thanks to everyone for all the love and support. Love y’all to death! God bless!'

A former walk-on, the 5ft10 LaRussa was not expected to be drafted by an NFL team.

'Everyone associated with our program is very proud of Blake and the decision he has made for his future. From the moment he walked on campus he represented our program's "aim high" philosophy. He will always be a great representative of Old Dominion University and a future leader of our country,' coach Bobby Wilder said in a statement.

ODU quarterbacks coach Ron Whitcomb worked closely with LaRussa.

'In 2014 we recruited Blake as hard as any scholarship QB, because we saw something special in him,' Whitcomb said in a statement. 'He took a chance on Coach Wilder, myself and ODU.

'He earned a full scholarship in 2016; he earned the starting QB position in 2017; and went on to beat Virginia Tech and earn All-Conference honors in 2018; he will earn his degree from Old Dominion this April.

'In saying all of that, those accomplishments combined don’t equal the respect I have for who Blake is as a person, and everything he has taught me,' Whitcomb continued. 'Blake has found his passion off the field, and I cannot be more happy for him as a young man!'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
