«Breaking News» Michael Bublé felt 'a part of his identity was missing' during music hiatus

Michael Bublé felt like a 'small part of his identity was missing' during his hiatus.

The singer, 43, took time out from his career while his son Noah, now five, battled liver cancer, but has now returned with his 10th studio album, Love, which was released last month.

The Canadian musician shed light on his decision to come back to music and start writing again.

Speaking to The Sun, he said: 'I didn’t know if I was ready or not to come back. I never fell out of love with music. It’s just that with everything I went through, I had to put everything aside.'

The singer and his actress wife Luisana Lopilato, 31, are parents to sons Noah, five, Elias, two, and recently welcomed daughter Vida, five months.

Michael credits his family for helping him get through the difficult time after Noah's diagnosis.

He added: 'I was gone a long time but I needed to be with my family. There is nothing better than being with your kids and watching The Gruffalo or drawing or wrestling - just being a normal guy.'

But he admitted following Noah's prognosis and his decision to pull out from hosting the 2017 BRIT Awards, he had 'already started losing the joy and was wondering why I was making music' but insists he never fell out of love with it.

The superstar added that although he began questioning everything he thought was important, he is thankful to have a second chance with his music.

His latest album is a dedication to love, something he says allowed him to find joy in the darkest places and features Love You Anymore which is written with Charlie Puth and Forever Now, inspired by being a dad.

Michael is no stranger to speaking honestly about his son's cancer battle and said keeping a positive state of mind helped him to survive, but insists he speaks openly about his son with love without exploiting his illness.

Following a performance on Strictly Come Dancing, Michael is heading back on the road in 2019 and said that he and his family are excited to look ahead to next year.

Earlier this year the hitmaker revealed to Weekend magazine how he felt after Noah's diagnosis, saying: ‘You just want to die, I don’t even know how I was breathing.

'My wife was the same and even though I was the stronger of the two of us, I wasn’t strong.

'My wife was... I’m sorry, I can’t make it to the end of the sentence... let’s just say we find out who we are with these things.'

The doting dad added that he took the sting out of Noah's treatment with humour.

He said: 'I never called it the hospital, I called it the fun hotel. And every day I got extra bed sheets and I'd build a tent for Noah. I just made the best of it. Survival.'

And he revealed the moment he decided to start writing again: 'I missed the guys in my band. So once when Luisana had to go back to Argentina I said to them, "Come over to the house, let’s drink, order pizza, play video games and jam."

'They came over, we partied and we said, "Let’s play some music." I thought, "Wow! This is fun."'

He added that that was the moment he realised he missed making music and wants his album to be 'to the millions of people all over the world who prayed for us and showed us compassion'.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
