«Breaking News» Man who filmed cops in lobby of Ohio hotel on night of Kareem Hunt incident was arrested

A man who reportedly filmed Ohio police in the lobby of a hotel on the night of the Kareem Hunt incident was arrested, but the star running back wasn't.

Derek Szeto was staying at The Metropolitan at the 9 in February 2018 when he was arrested by Cleveland police.

He was subsequently charged with disorderly conduct for recording the officers in the hotel's lobby.

On the same night, surveillance video captured the moment the former Kansas City Chiefs running back attacked then-19-year-old Abigail Ottinger from Berea, Ohio.

According to USA Today, Szeto had allowed the victim to use his phone to call 911 after an employee at the front desk told her she couldn't use the phone there.

Szeto tweeted about his arrest three hours after he was taken into custody.

'Don't ever stay at @The9CLE! They apparently don't care about women abuse that takes place in their hotel. I tried to help and got arrested,' he tweeted at the time.

Because Hunt was not arrested or charged over the incident, the Cleveland Police Department have been scrutinized.

The city of Cleveland announced that it is reviewing the 'overall response' by the police department regarding its handling of the incident.

Police have also launched an internal investigation to determine how the NFL got the police report for the February incident.

The city released records that show the NFL didn't ask for police reports until the video surfaced.

But Wednesday, the city said that an unidentified Cleveland police offer gave the report to the NFL, according to TMZ.

'Following an internal review, it has been determined that in February 2018 a member of the Cleveland Division of Police provided a copy of the police report involving the February 10, 2018 assault incident at The 9 to a representative from the National Football League,' per a statement to the news site.

'The report did not go through the official public records request process.'

News of the fight between Hunt and the victim gained renewed attention last Friday when TMZ posted surveillance video from hotel that shows Hunt shoving the woman and then kicking her while she is on the ground.

The Chiefs released Hunt hours after the video was made public. The Chiefs had initially stuck by Hunt, despite reports of the woman's assault accusations. Hunt was never arrested over the allegations.

The team said the footage proved that Hunt, who helped propel the team to first place in the AFC with a 9-2 record, had been 'untruthful' with investigators.

Authorities said the incident occurred at The Metropolitan at 3.22am on February 10.

In the video, originally posted on TMZ, Hunt appears to come around a corner outside his rented room to confront Ottinger with a hard shove. The woman hits him in the face and Hunt becomes enraged.

Hunt's entourage comes to help and attempts to hold him back. At one point, Hunt sends one of his friends and the woman flying into a wall.

Ottinger was on the ground appearing dazed and started to get up. Hunt saw her and delivered a kick to knock her back on the ground.

According to TMZ, law enforcement obtained the video from the hotel. Prosecutors reviewed the footage and decided not to file charges.

Ottinger, who reportedly attends Kent State, told police that the incident started because she refused to have sex with a member of Hunt's entourage.

Members of the entourage told police that Ottinger called Hunt the N-word and physically hit a female member of the entourage.

In an interview with ESPN on Sunday, Hunt insisted that he wasn't that 'type of person' and begged for forgiveness after his career went up in flames.

'I just want to let the world know how sorry I am for my actions. It's been a tough time for me and I'm extremely embarrassed from the video,' Hunt said.

'I'm definitely not that type of person. My mother raised me right.

'I'm asking for forgiveness. I believe I deserve forgiveness. I know it's going to be hard. I'm not going to let this bring me down.'

Hunt has also been accused of being involved in a third attack at a nightclub earlier this year, and newly released video shows the 23-year-old being restrained immediately following the alleged incident.

A police report names Hunt, along with former Chiefs running back George Atkinson and one other as the suspects who beat a 38-year-old man inside Mosaic nightclub, breaking his rib and nose on January 7.

The NFL is also reportedly investigating a separate incident where Hunt was accused of punching a man in the face at an Ohio resort in June after getting into a verbal altercation.

In addition to being cut from the Chiefs, Hunt has been placed on the NFL Commissioner Exempt list, which means he is barred from practicing, playing in or attending games.

As of Monday, Hunt became a free agent after going unclaimed on waivers, but his future in the NFL remains unclear.

He remains on the exempt list, meaning his return would remain in question, even if a team wanted to sign him.

Furthermore, a spokesman for EA Sports has announced that Hunt was removed from the latest version of the video game, Madden.

The 38-year-old man reported the nightclub attack on January 11 but no criminal charges were filed.

The Chiefs were aware of the January incident and reported it then to the NFL to be investigated, the Kansas City Star reported.

He told Kansas City police he was walking to the bathroom when he noticed one of his friends getting shoved by three men, one of whom he identified as Atkinson who is currently a free agent.

Atkinson and the man then exchanged punches and said men appeared from 'all over' and 'jumped him'.

He claims to have been kicked and struck multiple times on the head and body and lost consciousness before being escorted out of the club by security.

He named Hunt as one of about eight men involved in the January fight.

Then in June, Hunt allegedly punched a male guest at the Bay Lodging Resort in Put-in-Bay back after he got into a verbal confrontation with him.

The ex-Kansas City Chiefs star running back was not arrested over the incident and the victim declined to press charges, police said at the time.

But the incident in June could now impact Hunt's punishment in the wake of the other investigation into the violent altercation with the woman, NFL.com reported.

The NFL has been investigating the resort incident and has supposedly found enough evidence to increase the running back's suspension.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
