«Breaking News» Law clerk, 28, hit by charter bus in NYC dies barely more than one month after her wedding

A law clerk for a judge in Manhattan federal court has been struck and killed by a charter bus shortly after leaving work on Thursday and just over a month since her wedding in Central Park.

A charter bus struck Greer and knocked her to the pavement as she walked in a crosswalk on Leonard Street in lower Manhattan, near the courthouse where she worked as a clerk for Parker, police said.

The Melville, Long Island, native had only recently gotten married in November to her fellow graduate, Michael Singer, 27, both of them lawyers, the New York Daily News reported. They were married after three years together.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Katharine H. Parker said after Kimberly Greer's death that the 28-year-old distinguished herself 'through her keen analytical skills and fluent writing'.

'We are devastated by this tragedy,' Parker said in a statement. 'Kimberly was a vibrant young woman with an excellent legal mind.'

The judge called Greer 'one of the most kind and generous persons I know, quick to lend a hand to colleagues, bake cookies for interns, and mentor students.'

Bus driver Xi Chen awaited arraignment after being arrested on misdemeanor traffic charges of failure to yield to a pedestrian and failure to use due care in Thursday's collision.

No telephone number was found for the 50-year-old driver's home. It's not clear whether he has legal representation.

'He was panicked,' passenger Demetric Pringle told NBC 4 New York about Chen. '"Said 'I need 911."'

The passengers were at first unaware that a woman lay pinned under the rear of the bus.

Dian Jiang, owner of NYC Style Limo, told the New York Post that he was devastated that one of his company's buses was involved in a fatal accident.

'It's just very hard to grasp now,' Jiang told the newspaper. 'We feel really bad for (the victim).'

Jiang said Chen, who had worked for the company since July 2016, had not had any problems at the company before and was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol when the accident occurred.

'When the bus is making a legal [left] hand turn, it doesn't usually clip people,' Jiang said. 'I'm not putting fault on the pedestrian or the bus driver. We're not really sure right now.'

The bus labeled with the logo of 'NYC Style Limo' and was heading to Tennessee. However, a bus company employee and passengers told the Daily News that it was actually operated by Wanda Coach.

Wanda Coach reportedly lacked a proper federal license in a 2017 report by the state Senate’s Independent Democratic Conference which has since been dissolved.

Besides working as a clerk, Greer taught at Fordham University School of Law as an adjunct professor teaching advanced appellate advocacy.

Matthew Diller, dean at Fordham Law School, said the school was 'shocked and deeply saddened.'

'She was an incredible, young lawyer who accomplished so much in so little time,' Diller said in a statement.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
