Australian-made Rpela is a battery-powered deterrent which fits to surfboards and produces an electric field around the surfer in a bid to fend off sharks.

The device, which does not affect surfing performance, works by distrupting sharks' sensitive receptors.

In the new clip, a six-metre great white is seen swiftly swimming away once it comes in close contact with the empty, but baited-up surfboard.

However, once the Rpela was switched off, the predator made a beeline for the surfboard before attempting to take a bite from it.

The revolutionary device is the brainchild of West Australian Dave Smith, who spent six years creating the device in a bid to 'save lives'.

In total, it's set him back more than $700,000 and so far has a 100 per cent rate of deterring shark encounters across 1000 sales worldwide.'

'It's designed by surfers for surfers... to give you peace of mind whilst working with the design of your board,' said Mr Smith on the product's website.

Due to its ability to be embedded within a surfboard the device is both lightweight and does not affect a surfer's performance.

In recent further testing by Mr Smith's company Surfsafe, it found Rpela 'significantly reduced' the chance of a shark encounter.

This resulted in a a 66 per cent drop in the chance getting bitten and a 38 per cent drop in the chance of an interaction.

Surfsafe has cited the findings as evidence to the Western Australia government to qualified the device for a $200 subsidy to by personal anti-shark attack devices.

The d...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
