«Breaking News» Emily Blunt 'cool factor hits the roof' when she uses Mary Poppins' voice around her daughters

She's set to make her debut as the iconic nanny Mary Poppins this week, 54 years after Julie Andrews made the role famous.

And Emily Blunt revealed on Monday that her role in Mary Poppins Returns ups her 'cool factor' with her daughters Hazel, 4, and Violet, 2, who she shares with husband John Krasinski.

The actress, 35, was making an appearance on Good Morning America when she made the comment, as she said: 'Well my daughter quite likes me to do the voice for her sometimes, I think my cool factor hits the sky when I do that.'

'She’ll say "do your Mary Poppins voice" and I’ll say "spit spot and off we go" and she literally goes [Emily gasps] she loves it.'

The actress then joked: 'I’m going to dine out on that until they become teenagers and I become inevitably uncool.'

Although she felt the role made her cool, Emily was quick to admit that her children also loved the original film and actress.

The A Quiet Place star explained: 'They still love Julie Andrews, I mean desperately. I actually asked my daughter "which one do you like best" and she was like "[You’re] an idiot", and she said "I like them both to same" and I was like "dammit!" But, I get it.'

Going on to discuss how the sequel made her family cry, she revealed: 'Well it’s funny that people say that’s an extraordinary thing, but most people cry when they see this film, like even my most cynical of friends did. My dad too.

'My dad, it’ll truly be a memory I will have on my death bed, because he doesn’t cry and he was overcome, he was just beetroot red when he tried not to cry when he saw me and it was so moving, it was so sweet, so, so special.'

The actress has previously revealed that she didn't rewatch the original Mary Poppins film, and admitted it was because she 'didn't want to be intimidated by it'.

But Emily did watch the classic again after she had finished filming, as she said: 'I watched it thinking thank god I didn’t watch this before otherwise I would have been like "Rob [Marshall, the film's director], I’m out, recast it!"'

Emotional: Emily added that the sequel made her family cry, including her husband and father who she says 'doesn't cry' as she gushed she'd remember the moment 'on my death bed'

The Devil Wears Prada star looked stunning as she headed to the GMA studios in New York City while wearing a form-fitting green gown, which had a circular print for an extra touch of glamour.

She complemented her ensemble by stepping out in a pair of silver open-toe heels, and kept her accessories simple by wearing small earrings.

Emily's blonde locks were styled into loose waves that framed her face well, and she wore a natural palette of make-up for the occasion.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
