«Breaking News» Dame Joan Collins, 85, claims things are 'out of control' after #MeToo

She's a Hollywood stalwart and was once the highest paid woman on television.

And Dame Joan Collins, 85, had some strong opinions when she was quizzed about the campaign to ban the song Baby It's Cold Outside during an appearance on Good Morning Britain this Monday.

The veteran actress sided with outspoken host Piers Morgan, claiming the world has gone PC-mad and things are 'getting worse and worse' in the wake of the #MeToo movement.

Joan said the art of seduction will be stamped out as modern consent culture becomes 'out of control', decrying current cultural attitudes towards sexuality.

The debate occurred following the news the 1949 Oscar-winning tune, originally performed by Esther Williams and Ricardo Montalban, has been banned by radio stations amid concerns the lyrics promoted date rape.

Joan said the outrage was ridiculous, declaring: What's going to happen to seduction? It's becoming out of control, this has all happened within two years.

'It's getting worse and worse, it's one of the sweetest numbers, how dare they?'

Susanna Reid chimed in: 'You're signed up to Piers Morgan's [school of thought] the world's gone nuts!'

Piers also asked Joan about restricting the subject matter of comedians jokes for fear of offending people.

The former Dynasty star declared: 'Back in the day, I saw comedians make jokes about other nationalities, you can't say anything now...

'Not even about people with frizzy hair...you can only make jokes about age! It's not welcome to me at all, but it seems to be the only thing left standing!'

During her interview, Joan joked around with Susanna, who was clad in a similar floral patterned dress.

Shimmying up to her, she laughed: 'Look Susanna, we look alike... You are my style inspiration!'

Joan herself has been a victim of sexual assault - and has spoken candidly about the 'unwanted advances she faced' when she was starting out in the industry.

During a recent appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show, she discussed the difficulties she faced early on in her seven-decade career.

The legendary actress recalled a situation where a producer persistently offered to give her a lift home after work - leading her to be saved by a fellow actor, who went onto make a 'nasty pass' at her himself.

While the #MeToo movement has been monumental over the last year in Hollywood, and other walks of life, Joan explained that in the fifties unwanted advances by men where more brazen and common.

The American Horror Story star said: 'I was very lucky because my father was an agent so when I came into the business when I was 17 years old, he warned me about all these predatory men and so did my mother.

'I was rather prepared for the advances that were most of the time, that you didn’t want. They were really unwanted advances,' she revealed.

Joan went on to give context to her claims, telling host Jonathan: 'My first big movie when I was 18 called I Believe In You, one of the producers used to follow me around at the end of the day to try and get me in his car to take me home because I used to come on the tube because I didn’t have the money to take a car or drive.

'The wardrobe department used to hide me in the wardrobe cupboards to keep me away from this guy.

'Eventually one of the actors said "I’ll give you a lift home, Joanie," and gave me a lift and then he made a very nasty pass at me, really nasty. At 18, I was a virgin, not only was I a virgin but I was extremely naive and ignorant, as we all were in those days.

'All of my generation, we didn’t have sex education. My father’s idea of sex education was one day saying to me, ‘Right I’ve got to tell you the facts of life".'

Joan has gone on to finally find love with her fifth husband Percy Gibson, 53 - and the star gushed: 'It will be 17 years on February 17th… What is the secret? I think it’s just that we really got to know each other before we got involved.

'We were both in the theatre. I was doing a play with George Hamilton, we were touring and we all became great friends… Percy and I became great friends and friendship turned to all the other things.'

The veteran...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
