Crown Princess Mary of Denmark is preparing for a chillier holiday season after spending Christmas 2017 in sunny Australia.
And on Monday the royal offered fans a glimpse into the festive palace when she posted a snap of her newly decorated Christmas tree to the Danish royal Instagram account.
To add a unique touch to the towering tree, the 46-year-old replaced fairy lights with candles on the branches.
Traditional: Crown Princess Mary unveiled her traditional Christmas tree at Amalienborg Palace, and shared her unique alternative to fairy lights by substituting with candles on branches
Situated in one of the palace's main living areas, the tree features an array of colourful baubles.
A traditional gold star is placed on top, while thin candles on branches are an alternative to fairy lights.
It is believed the candles are only lit on Christmas Eve, when the Crown Princess and her family are seated for dinner.
2017: The tree is slightly different to last year's that featured prominently in the Amalienborg Palace
The photo was captioned to Instagram: 'Christmas party in the Knights Hall in Frederik VIII's Palace, Amalienborg, here on the third Sunday in advent.'
Keeping with the traditional theme, marble side tables feature carefully placed metallic-painted pine cones and gold baubles.
Crown Princess Mary will celebrate Christmas with her husband Prince Frederik, 50, and their four children, in Denmark's chillier temperatures.

Australia: The royal couple, along with their children, first arrived in Sydney mid December, where they were pictured on a yacht. They later enjoyed a day at Sydney's Palm Beach, before heading to Tasmania for Christmas Day festivities
It's in contrast to last year when the family celebrated Christmas Day in Mary's hometown, Tasmania.
The royal couple, along with their children Christian, Isabella, Vincent and Josephine, first arrived in Sydney mid December, where they were pictured on a yacht.
They later enjoyed a day at Sydney's Palm Beach, before heading to Tasmania for Christmas Day festivities.
Mary first met Prince Frederik during the Sydney 2000 Olympics and later wed in 2004.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
