«Breaking News» Cheryl admits she has limited dance experience and isn't as qualified as Greatest Dancer judges

Cheryl has admitted she does not have as much dance experience as her fellow judges on The Greatest Dancer and added that her main experience was 'a long time ago'.

The singer, 35, is on the judging panel for the dancing series, along with Strictly's Oti Mabuse and Glee star and Broadway performer Matthew Morrisson.

Of her fellow judges, Cheryl told The Sun: 'They’ve had really long careers in dance and in performing arts.

'Mentoring other people one-on-one like I did on X Factor might help me with the mentality of how things go. But in terms of knowledge and stuff, they’re more than qualified.'

The hitmaker revealed her main dancing experience, aside from the choreographed moves she learned as a member of Girls Aloud, was going to summer school at the Royal Ballet when she was nine.

However, Cheryl added that she would not have the right to tell a ballerina what to do as her time at the school was so long ago.

Yet the former X Factor judge's lack of experience in comparison with Matthew and Ori didn't stop her from picking a diverse group of contestants to mentor.

The TV star insisted she wants to be pushed out of her comfort zone on the BBC1 series.

Cheryl comments come after her judging credentials on The Greatest Dancer were slammed by Dancing On Ice's Jason Gardiner.

The acid-tongued judge branded her background  'questionable' in a recent interview with The Mirror

In the interview, Jason called into question Cheryl's previous dance experience and whether it qualified her to be on the panel.

He said: 'The judging line up on that is questionable as well...what’s her dance background? Where is her dance background?

'She went to Royal Ballet School that you pay for, an extortionate amount to go to because mum and dad just want to drop you off somewhere for the holidays.'

Representatives for Cheryl declined to comment when contacted by MailOnline.

Cheryl had previously said she was a student at the Royal Ballet Summer School from the age of nine, but attended on a scholarship as her parents were unable to afford the fees.

Speaking about her time there, she told The Times Magazine in 2014: 'Hated it. Squashed the dream. It wasn’t me. I didn’t fit in.'

'It was the first time I’d ever felt… class.

'I didn’t understand it. I just knew it was… different. And that they were… looking down their noses. If you like. But I couldn’t express it.'

Cheryl will make her first appearance on The Greatest Dancer in early January, her first venture back into TV judging since leave The X Factor in 2015.

The star had previously been hit by claims of a feud between her and fellow judge Oti, but a spokesperson for the Fight For This Love singer exclusively dismissed the reports to MailOnline.

They said: 'It’s a fabricated story - yet again trying to pit female against female on a TV show.

'It’s a shame we haven’t moved past this. Cheryl absolutely loves working with Oti and has a brilliant relationship with her.'

Meanwhile Jason will back on the Dancing On Ice judging panel in early January, offering his critique to celebrities including TOWIE's Gemma Collins, Strictly pro James Jordan and cricketer Ryan Sidebottom.

The performer is famous for his no-holds-barred criticism of the stars performances, and it looks like he will be as cut-throat as ever.

Open: Meanwhile Jason has never held back when it comes to his acid-tongued critiques, and has been branded the 'Mr Nasty' of the Dancing On Ice judging panel

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
