The Christmas Eve discounts come amid predictions bargain hunters will spend over £1billion on Christmas Day itself for the first time.
Stores triggering markdowns today include John Lewis, Marks & Spencer, House of Fraser and Currys PC World.

They join Debenhams, which launched its Boxing Day sale even earlier – on December 23.
A warmer than usual autumn and December has been a disaster for fashion stores and websites, who are slashing up to 80 per cent off the prices of winter items such as woollens, coats and gloves.
Now other products including TVs, household appliances, laptops and furniture are being added to the sales frenzy with savings of up to £600 on some goods.
The early Boxing Day sales come after stores launched a wave of unprecedented pre-Christmas sales at the weekend in a final bid for shoppers.
The rise of online sales shopping at Christmas comes at the end of the toughest year for retailers in a decade due to falling sales, and spiralling business rates and staff costs.
With Christmas traditions such as watching a family film being pushed aside by millions browsing for deals on smartphones, retailers are taking advantage where they can.

The Centre for Retail Research predicts online spending on Christmas Day will rise from £895million last year to more than £1billion tomorrow.
Spending is expected to peak at 11am, after gifts – and gift vouchers – have been opened, and again at 5pm.
John Lewis launches its Boxing Day sale online at 5pm today, with offers including a 50 per cent off duvets, curtains, towels, TVs, laptops and kitchen equipment.
Currys PC World begins its sale at 7pm today with up to £600 off some fridge freezers.
House of Fraser cut prices in the run up to Christmas, but launches its ‘Big Boxing Day’ sale today with savings of up to 70 per cent.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
