«Breaking News» Anne Hegerty hilariously transforms into Spice Girls' Geri Horner for The Chase Christmas special

The Chase fans were left in hysterics after Anne Hegerty transformed into Geri Horner (nee Halliwell) for the ITV show’s Christmas special on Sunday. 

Proving she's a great sport, the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! star, 60, sported her very own version of Ginger Spice's iconic union jack dress, along with a voluminous red wig. 

When The Governess - as she is dubbed on the programme - arrived in her hysterical getup, the studio audience let out a resounding cheer, which had Anne sporting a broad smile.

Viewers at home were equally impressed by the former I'm A Celeb campmate's transformation and were keen to share their enthusiasm on Twitter. 

One wrote: '@anne_hegerty dressed as ginger spice is the best thing I've seen all year #TheChase'

While a second added: 'Switch on ITV right now. Anne Hegerty is dressed as Ginger Spice and it’s everything I’ve ever needed.'

Another commented '@anne_hegerty on The Chase as Ginger Spice! You look amazing, as if I couldn’t love you any more! #favouriteChaser.'

Anne, who was diagnosed with Asperger's at the age of 45, usually appears on the show in a conservative suit, paring a smart blazer, shirt and skirt, and is a force to be reckoned with as The Governess. 

But throwing caution to the wind and teasing a look at her more playful side, Anne relished the opportunity to hone her inner Spice Girl and picked one of Geri's most memorable looks from her time in the much-loved '90s girlband.

Anne was seen sporting a voluminous ginger wig, complete with blonde streaks at the front, and is clad in a union jack-inspired dress, not too dissimilar from the one Geri has become known for. 

She finished off her look with heavy make-up, including blue eye shadow and bright red lip, and showcased her sense of humour as host Bradley Walsh joked over her appearance: 'Never mind Ginger Spice, you look like a ginger nut.' 

Veteran actor Bernard Cribbins, 89, who the contestant going head to head against Anne, put his hand to his heart and cried: ‘I’m in love.’

Also appearing on the show to try and beat a Chaser were contestants Scarlett Moffatt, Judy Murray, and John Inverdale.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
