«Breaking News» Viagogo bosses are warned they face jail or huge fines if they don’t stop ‘conning’ customers

The bosses of ticket website Viagogo were warned yesterday that they faced jail or huge fines if they fail to stop conning the public.

The High Court backed the Competition and Markets Authority, which had ordered the site to improve the way it sold tickets for concerts, plays and sports events.

The decision is a victory for the Daily Mail, which highlighted Viagogo’s rip-off tactics. The site adds significant additional charges at the end of the booking process, and has charged exorbitant prices for second-hand tickets.

The ruling will also be welcomed by stars including Ed Sheeran and Adele who have criticised its exploitation of fans.

Viagogo, which is based in Switzerland and enables third-party sellers to advertise tickets, was ordered by the High Court to comply with British consumer law. 

It must tell customers the face value of its tickets, stop sellers advertising tickets they do not own, identify sellers to make refunds easier, and state where seats are in venues.

If Viagogo breaches the court order, it could be fined and its executives jailed.

A spokesman for Viagogo said: ‘We are pleased that we have ... come to an agreement that provides even greater transparency.’

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
