«Breaking News» Trump activist says tweet claiming responsibility for Avenatti arrest was a joke

A Trump activist who infuriated Michael Avenatti after his company boasted on Twitter it was responsible for the domestic violence allegations against the attorney has told DailyMailTV: 'It was just a joke'.

Avenatti was arrested on Wednesday last week after an unidentified woman filed a criminal complaint against him in Los Angeles.

When the news broke, Surefire Intelligence, a firm derided as a vehicle for right-wing conspiracy theories including allegations of sexual misconduct by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, tweeted: ‘Surefire Intelligence strikes again’.

The comment could easily have been lost in the Twitter storm precipitated by the arrest of Stormy Daniels' attorney, who has been considering a run for president in 2020.

Michael Avenatti claimed that his domestic violence arrest was a set up from the same people who are being investigated by the FBI for an alleged smear campaign against Robert Mueller

But Avenatti took the bait, tweeting in response: ‘First Mueller and now me. When we are fully exonerated I am coming for you Jacob Wohl aka Surefire.’

Avenatti’s comment, seeming to suggest he had been set up by the intelligence firm run by former hedge fund manager Jacob Wohl, deepened the controversy around his arrest at his luxury rented apartment on the edge of Beverly Hills.

Avenatti doubled down on his claim of a set up by Wohl, later telling TMZ outside a restaurant: 'I'm looking forward to the truth coming out... I'm gonna be proven innocent, I'm gonna be exonerated, we're gonna move forward, adding while pointing his finger at the camera: 'Jacob if you're watching I'm coming for you, if I was Jacob I would not be sleeping well at night.'

But Wohl, an avid Trump supporter who set up Surefire after being barred from the National Futures Association and fined by the Arizona Corporation Commission in 2016 for failing to cooperate amid allegations he defrauded traders, told DailyMailTV that the tweet was ‘just a joke’ and he was not responsible.

‘The tweet was sent out in jest, it was a silly tweet. And he doesn’t actually believe that Surefire Intelligence or I had anything to do with his arrest,’ said Wohl. ‘What he’s trying to do is to place blame on to me.'

The 20-year-old said he was surprised by the reaction to his firm’s tweet last week.

‘It was just a joke. I didn’t even send the tweet, one of my business partners did. And I told him, I said “great tweet”. Little did I know that it would set off this press storm and he [Avenatti] would glom onto it like that.

‘He knows I had nothing to do with it. He knows that Surefire had nothing to do with it.'

Avenatti did not respond when asked if he had evidence of Wohl or Surefire’s involvement, but labelled the felony domestic violence allegations against him ‘bogus’.

After being booked at a Los Angeles police station on Wednesday evening, Avenatti told reporters: ‘I have never struck a woman, I never will strike a woman.

'I have been an advocate for women's rights my entire career and I will continue to be an advocate.'

'I am not going to be intimidated from stopping what I am doing.

'I am a father to two beautiful smart daughters, I would never disrespect them by touching a woman inappropriately or striking a woman. I am looking forward to a full investigation at which point I am confident that I will be fully exonerated.'

Wohl and his firm were accused of plotting to frame Mueller for sexual misconduct last month after two women claimed to have been offered money by the company to make false statements against the Justice official.

Reporters received emails from a woman claiming to be called Lorraine Parsons, alleging that a man with a British accent who worked for Surefire Intelligence asked her to make a false statement that she had been sexually assaulted by Mueller when they worked together in 1974

The emails, which remain unverified, claimed that Surefire offered to pay off $54,000 of her debts in exchange.

A second woman, Jennifer Taub, forwarded emails she said were from Surefire offering to pay her to discuss 'past encounters' with Mueller, to the Special Counsel’s office. The alleged plot is currently being investigated by the FBI.

The latest incident was first reported by TMZ to be between Avenatti and his estranged wife, Lisa Storey-Avenatti. But the attorney’s wife later released a statement saying she had not seen Avenatti in months, and that he would never be violent to a woman.

'I have known Michael Avenatti for over 26 years we met when he was 21 years old and we were married for 13 years,' she tweeted after his arrest.

'Michael has ALWAYS been a kind loving father to our two daughters and husband to me. He has NEVER been abusive to me or anyone else. He is a good man.'

TMZ reported that a woman was seen running out of Avenatti’s apartment on Tuesday and screaming into her cell phone while wearing sunglasses to conceal the alleged bruises on her face.

'I can't believe you did this to me,' she reportedly yelled into the phone.

Security guards then led the woman back inside the building, the website claimed.

Five minutes later, Avenatti showed up and ran into the building, chasing after her.

'She hit me first,

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
