«Breaking News» Duchess of York reveals how she was thinking of Diana during Harry and Meghan's wedding

Sarah Ferguson has revealed how her close friend Princess Diana was at the front of her mind as she made her 'nerve-wracking' return to the royal fold at Harry and Meghan's wedding.

Prince Andrew’s ex-wife said she 'wanted to cry' when she was greeted by cheering crowds at Windsor Castle as she arrived for the ceremony in May earlier this year.

The occasion saw Fergie emerge from years in royal wilderness, having been snubbed for the wedding of the Duke andDuchess of Cambridge in 2011.

During a rare TV appearance on Good Morning Britain, she told how her late sister-in-law Princess Diana had dominated her thoughts on the day.

Speaking about the walk into the church and past hundreds of royal fans, she said: 'It was nerve-wracking and I was glad I didn't trip over in those heels.

'But the minute I started to walk I was thinking of Diana in my heart and my mum. My dad would say "the show goes on, get on with it".

'I wanted to cry at the crowd’s reaction. I looked around so see who they were doing it for and then someone said "Fergie" and it was the old Fergie back; it was very kind.'

'I also felt so emotional because of the kind people that had been so lovely, plus Jack Brooksbank [Princess Eugenie's then-fiance] came towards me with open arms.

'I felt very happy for my friend Diana, who I love, and I felt honoured to be invited by Meghan and Harry. It was very kind of them I can’t thank them enough for doing that.'

Fergie said she still misses Diana everyday at that 'no one made me laugh better than her'.

'She had this enormous compassion and I think she would be so proud of Meghan and Catherine as well,' she added.

When asked what she thinks Diana would have made of the brides and her boys have chosen, Sarah smiled, adding: 'She'd really be so proud.

'Even before they got married, Diana would have been literally saying "I can’t believe these boys have done so well". They are such a credit to her.'

Fergie also revealed that she views herself and Diana as 'trailblazers' for the likes of Meghan and Kate on the 'dos and don'ts' of royal life.

'I've been there made the mistakes so my girls know what not to do,' she told co-presenters Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid.

'I tell them "be who you are. They are going to write things and say things, 50 per cent like you and 50 per cent don’t. Stand firm with integrity and kindness".

'I say "remember the people who open the door for you, remember the name of the people who cook for you in the kitchen".'

Fergie spoke of her pride during the wedding of her youngest daughter Eugenie to Jack Brooksbank last month.

'I loved every moment of it, I was so proud,' she said.

'The love between them is enormous, its twin flames and they are meant to be together. To see Eugenie blossom like she has and to be so brave with her scoliosis.'

Today's TV appearance comes after she spoke about her divorce to Prince Andrew in her first full interview for 20 years.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Fergie said: 'We're the happiest divorced couple in the world. We're divorced to each other, not from each other.'

When asked whether she still loved Andrew, she replied: 'We are completely compatible. Our bywords are communication, compromise and compassion.

'July 23, 1986 was the happiest day of my life. Andrew is the best man I know. What he does for Britain is incredible; no one knows how hard he works for his country.'

Fergie also described how she watches her daughters Princesses Beatrice, 30, and Eugenie, 28, on television every Christmas as they join the other royals at Sandringham.

‘I will watch Ben-Hur and really enjoy it, then watch the news and see how the girls are doing,' she said.

Proud mother Sarah regularly shares photographs of her two daughters, along with ex-husband Andrew, on Instagram, including after daughter Eugenie's wedding day last month.

Fergie wasn't invited to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s 2011 wedding at Westminster Abbey, and took herself off to a spa in Thailand to lick her wounds.

But relations have thawed enough in recent years for Sarah to be invited to a small number of occasions, such as Royal Ascot and the family's summer sojourn at Balmoral.

Prince Philip is said to hold a deep-seated grudge against Fergie for the embarrassments he feels she has heaped upon his family over the years, once memorably describing her as 'having no point'.

He has never forgiven her for being photographed having her 'toes sucked' by a pool in the South of France by her 'financial adviser' John Bryan in 1992, while still married to Andrew.

She has also tried Philip's patience with her profligate lifestyle, which has seen her come close to bankruptcy twice over the years, saved only by the generosity of her former husband.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
