«Breaking News» Alec Baldwin arrives in New York court to face charges in parking-spot assault case

Alec Baldwin had pleaded not guilty to assault and harassment charges in a New York court after being accused of striking a man in the face over a parking space.

The 60-year-old actor was arraigned at New York Supreme Court on Monday on the misdemeanor and violation-level charges.

Baldwin has said any assertion that he punched anyone over a parking spot is false.

Baldwin arrived in court wearing black jeans, a black jacket, and a bright purple polo shirt, as well as glasses.

Alan Abramson, Baldwin's attorney, told the court that there is video evidence proving his innocence.

'There is incontrovertible video evidence that has been turned over to the district attorney's office that proves beyond all doubt that Mr Baldwin never punched anyone, Abramson said.

'We're confident that once this matter is full investigated, it will be resolved swiftly and appropriately in court.'

Baldwin appeared at the court only briefly to enter his plea and made no comments as he left. He is next due to appear in court on January 23.

The former 30 Rock star was arrested on November 2. Police were told a driver pulled into a Manhattan parking space that one of Baldwin's relatives was holding for him, and the two men started quarreling and pushing each other.

Wojciech Cieszkowski told police Baldwin punched or slapped him over the parking spot.

The 49-year-old man was taken to a hospital complaining of jaw pain and redness around his neck.

Baldwin later tweeted the episode was 'egregiously misstated'.

Cieszkowski has said few words about the alleged assault in the following week.

But an eyewitness told DailyMail.com that Cieszkowski was pulling into a spot outside Baldwin's apartment building when the actor lost control.

The witness claimed that Baldwin went after Cieszkowski as he went to pay the meter.

It is unclear what happened next, with Baldwin denying that he punched Cieszkowski despite the alleged victim's claims.

Baldwin, who has had a number of physical and verbal altercations on the streets on New York in the past, later posted about the incident on social media.

'Normally, I would not comment on something as egregiously misstated as today's story. However, the assertion that I punched anyone over a parking spot is false,' wrote Baldwin on the charitable page of his foundation with wife Hilaria.

'I wanted to go on the record stating as much. I realize that it has become a sport to tag people w as many negative charges and defaming allegations as possible for the purposes of clickbait entertainment..'

He then added: 'Fortunately, no matter how reverberating the echos, it doesn't make the statements true.'

Baldwin has gotten physical with members of the media and law enforcement a number of times in the past.

In 1995 he allegedly punched a cameraman who filmed him and then-wife Kim Basinger returning home from the hospital with newborn daughter Ireland.

Twenty years later Baldwin again found himself in trouble with the law when he was arrested for being belligerent to a police officer who ticketed him for riding his bike the wrong way in a one-way street.

In 2011, he found himself kicked off an American Airlines plane for slamming a bathroom door after being repeatedly told he needed to stop playing Word With Friends while the flight was preparing for takeoff.

And in 2013 he was suspended for two weeks by MSNBC for an incident in which he called a New York Post photographer a 'c***-s***ing f****t,' with the network then deciding to cancel his show Up late With Alec Baldwin.

That same year he also told then-Post reporter Tara Palmeri 'I hope you choke to death' and lashed out at Mail Online report George Stark when he wrote about the content Hilaria posted around the time of James Gandolfini's funeral.

'I want all of my followers and beyond to straighten out this f***ing little b****, George Stark,' wrote Baldwin.

'I'm gonna find you, George Stark, you toxic little queen, and I'm gonna f** you…up.'

His most infamous rant however was directed at his daughter, screaming: 'You are a rude, thoughtless little pig.'

She was 11 at the time.

Baldwin has...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
