«Breaking News» Father-of-three, 27, sheds half his body weight

A morbidly obese dad who feared he die before watching his kids grow up has shed half his body weight by making a few simple lifestyle tweaks.

Just three years ago, Shane Gillard, 27, from Melbourne, tipped the scales at a whopping 188 kilos and his wardrobe was packed full of enormous size 8XL shirts and size 46 trousers.

The father-of-three led an extremely unhealthy lifestyle and would gorge on unhealthy takeaway and down six-packs of beer daily.

'I was always an overweight kid and reached 100 kilos when I was just 13 years old,' he said.

'I got a job at a local fast food chain when I was 15 and my weight began to really spiral out of control from there because I was eating greasy fried foods all the time.

'As I got older, I began to drink beer all the time. It became a daily habit for me, and I just kept getting bigger. I'd drink six-packs of beer nightly, and down entire cartons on the weekends.'

After his first daughter was born the stress also saw Shane's health decline.

'After having my first daughter, I think the stress of being a new parent really got to me. I knew I wasn't leading a healthy lifestyle but didn't know how to get myself out of it,' he said.

I was so unhealthy and wouldn't have been around to see my kids grow up.

'I was in denial about how big I was up until I needed to get a suit for my friend's wedding. They didn't have my size on the rack, and it would cost my friend a fortune to have one specially made for me,' he said.

'I was devastated. I broke down a bit after that because I realised that my weight was not only hurting me, but now it was affecting the lives of the people around me.

'I looked in the mirror and it all just hit me. I knew if I kept going I wouldn't be around to see my kids grow up or be there for my partner.'

Shane ditched his unhealthy eating habits and started working out at the gym five nights per week.

He managed to lose more than 20kg for his friend's wedding in 2015 and was elated to be able to fit into a smaller suit.

Over the next two years, Shane dropped another 64kg and is now fitter than ever training and competing in gruelling marathon runs, while also lifting weights at the gym.

'Losing the weight was the best decision I've ever made, not only for myself but for my family too. My beautiful partner and kids were my motivation. I couldn't have done it without them,' he said

He also has more energy than ever after ditching the unhealthy takeaway meals – and now enjoys a healthy diet full of nourishing proteins and leafy greens.

The dad said he is now looking forward to a bright future with his fiancé Cassie, 26, and his kids Rory, four, and twins Harper and Riley, one.

'My life has completely changed, and I feel like a totally different person to who I was three years ago. I was so unhealthy and wouldn't have been around to see my kids grow up if I'd kept going the way I was,' he said.

'I'm so excited to have the positive outlook and endless energy to be there for them. I can't wait to see what the future holds. I'm never looking back.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
