«Breaking News» Trump lashes out at Fox News anchors in surprise Twitter attack and says they should work at CNN

President Donald Trump lashed out at several Fox News anchors on Sunday and argued they should be working at CNN, the network he loves to deride as 'fake news.'

It was an usual criticism of Fox News from the president, who is a loyal viewer and fan.

'Were @FoxNews weekend anchors, @ArthelNeville and @LelandVittert, trained by CNN prior to their ratings collapse? In any event, that's where they should be working, along with their lowest rated anchor, Shepard Smith!,' he wrote on twitter.

Arthel Neville  and Leland Vittert anchor the cable news network on weekends. Shepard Smith anchors an afternoon show on Fox News.

Smith has often garnered attention for his willingness to call out the president and his administration.

It's unclear what sparked the president's anger at Neville and Vittert.

Fox News has not responded to DailyMail.com's request for comment.

The president doesn't hide his preference for Fox and often derides CNN as 'fake news' - particularly when the cable news network reports stories about him or his administration he doesn't like.

Earlier Sunday Trump called on Fox News Channel to 'bring back' Jeanine Pirro after her weekly show was replaced by a documentary following her remarks suggesting that Rep Ilhan Omar's hijab meant that she subscribes to sharia law.

The president has appeared multiple times on her show and that of Fox News host Sean Hannity.

Both Pirro and Hannity are seen more as commentators while Neville, Vittert and Smith follow a traditional news model.

Pirro’s program, Justice with Judge Jeanine, reportedly did not air on Fox News on Saturday night due to 'scheduling matters'.

Instead, the network re-aired the documentary Scandalous: The Trial of William Kennedy Smith, in Pirro's normally scheduled time slot at 9pm.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a Fox News spokesperson said the network is 'not commenting on internal scheduling matters'.

But on Sunday, Trump tweeted that the 'Radical Left Democrats, working closely with their beloved partner, the Fake News Media, is using every trick in the book to SILENCE a majority of our Country'.

'They have all out campaigns against @FoxNews hosts who are doing too well,' he added.

The 'scheduling' conflict comes just a week after Pirro came under for suggesting that Rep Ilhan Omar's hijab meant that she subscribes to sharia law.

During the opening monologue of her show on March 9, Pirro claimed that Omar's hijab was a sign that she was committed to the religious law which originates from the Quran, adding that it was 'antithetical' to the constitution.

Smith, meanwhile, was honored on Wednesday night with the Leonard Zeidenberg First Amendment Award at the Radio Television Digital News Foundation's 29th annual First Amendment Awards dinner.

In his remarks, Smith reminded his audience of what he described as journalism's "intrinsic duty and responsibility to others, to the people who trust us," according to Fox News

"We must never manipulate or invent," he said. "We must never knowingly deceive because to do so is a disservice to our audience and potentially injurious to our society."

‘Were @FoxNews weekend...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
