«Breaking News» Today bosses tell 'Deborah Knight to cut her HAIR'

Producers are said to be having more crisis meetings as the Today show's ratings continue to drop.

And according to Monday's Woman's Day, desperate bosses have resorted to telling 'Deborah Knight to cut her HAIR as she looks too similar to co-host Georgie Gardner'.

The report comes just days after the Channel Nine program was beaten in the TV ratings for the first time, by ABC's News Breakfast.

'Here's a woman like Deb, a strong force to be reckoned with and one of the best journalists in the country, being told she needed to cut her hair,' the source reportedly told Woman's Day.

'Both Deb, 46, and Georgie, 48, pride themselves on being modern women of substance, and yet they've been reduced to something as superficial as their hairstyles having to be different,' they added.

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to the Nine Network for comment.

Crikey revealed last Thursday, that on Wednesday, the ABC had eclipsed the Channel Nine program for the first time.

News Breakfast pulled in 265,000 national viewers across both the ABC and ABC News on Wednesday, a good 1000 on Today's 264,000.

The ABC came in second behind Seven's Sunrise, who sat on top with 447,000 national viewers.

A Nine spokesman angrily disputed Crikey's figures, claiming the figures don't count because ABC News Breakfast screens across two channels, not one like Today.

'Today won nationally against ABC Breakfast (combined five City Metro and Regional 264,000 to 193,000) as well as five City Metro,' they said.

However, this doesn't change the reality that more viewers in total tuned in to ABC over its Nine rival for the first time ever last Wednesday - which is bad news for the show's new lineup.

The embattled program has failed to boost their ratings after shafting longtime Today personalities, including Karl Stefanovic and Richard Wilkins.

Brooke Boney, Tony Jones, and Tom Steinfort joined the new panel with Deborah and Georgie in January after longtime host, Karl was axed last year.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
