«Breaking News» Torrential downpours spark almost 60 flood alerts across Britain

Almost 50 flood alerts have been put in place across Britain as motorists were warned to take care on the roads amid torrential downpours.

Forecasters have warned that a day-long spell of heavy rain and strong winds will cause chaos for commuters both during and after the morning rush hour, with thundery showers expected later in the day.

Authorities have issued five flood warnings - meaning flooding is expected and immediate action is required - as well as 46 flood alerts across Britain, with south-west England the worst affected area.

This evening, rain and hill snow will continue to fall across much of Scotland, while Northern Ireland, north Wales and northern England will experience showers.

The Met Office warned that conditions would be very unsettled across the country in the aftermath of Freya, as a band of low pressure moves northwards and brings heavy rain, wind and hill snow.

Showers are expected to break out throughout the week, with Thursday and Friday experiencing strong gusts, before conditions improve heading in to the weekend.

Met Office forecaster Graham Madge said: 'Storm Freya has been and gone but it has left a spell of very unsettled weather in its wake.

'It is going to be very windy and rainy for the next few days. A band of low pressure will move northwards bringing wind, rain and hill snow.

'Heavy rain will arrive in the south west overnight and will build across all of Britain throughout Wednesday. There is the risk of some flooding due to rising water levels in rivers, especially in the south-west.

'Thursday and Friday will also be very unsettled days, with strong winds. But things will get drier and brighter as we head into the weekend.

'The temperatures will drop back into single figures and conditions will be around freezing in northern England. There will be some snow on higher ground on Wednesday and Thursday.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
