«Breaking News» Star Wars Episode IX: Carrie Fisher's unused footage will explore bond between Leia and Poe Dameron

Oscar Isaac revealed some of the unused footage of the late Carrie Fisher appearing in Star Wars: Episode IX will develop Leia Organa and Poe Dameron's relationship.

Making an appearance on Sirius XM with host John Fugelsang on Tuesday, the actor, 40, said it will explore the bond forged between the two characters.

Discussing how he felt while looking back at the many scenes they shared in The Last Jedi, Oscar explained: '[Carrie] and I worked together so much.

'We would talk about the scenes, and we got very tight during the shooting of that. So it was a beautiful thing to see, and it gets carried over into the new film as well.'

While he claimed it was 'definitely an unusual thing' to include the unused footage in the forthcoming Star Wars film, he added: 'I also think it was right to engage with her character, and not just let it be something that fades away.'

Carrie died of a cardiac arrest at the age of 60 in December 2016, and she played the role of Leia since the first Star Wars film, which was released in 1977.

It was revealed in July last year that J.J. Abrams would be using unreleased scenes of her in the next Star Wars film, following her tragic death.

Of using the footage, which were shot in 2015's The Force Awakens, the director said in a statement: 'Finding a truly satisfying conclusion to the Skywalker saga without her eluded us. We were never going to recast, or use a CG character.'

'With the support and blessing from her daughter, Billie, we have found a way to honour Carrie's legacy and role as Leia in Episode IX by using unseen footage we shot together in Episode VII.'

But in December, Carrie's brother Todd, 60, revealed the actresses appearance in the final film of the sequel trilogy is 'going to look like it was meant to be.'

Speaking to Good Morning America, the director said: There's a lot of minutes of footage. I don't mean just outtakes. This is unused, new content that could be woven into the storyline.'

'That's what's going to give everybody such a great kick, it's going to look like it was meant to be. Like it was shot yesterday.'

While Todd admitted he wasn't able to say more on the subject, he did say that he and Carrie's family are 'thrilled at what's been done.'

Earlier this week, Oscar also confirmed on The Today Show that the new film will mark the 'end of the entire Skywalker saga' in the franchise.

The Inside Llewelyn Davis star, who plays Resistance pilot Poe Dameron, explained: 'It is the end of the entire Skywalker saga, nine stories and this is the culmination of the thing.'

'I think what J.J. has done, and really the whole Lucas team, is going to be incredibly fulfilling and also special for us because you will get to learn a lot more new things about these characters.

The Skywalker saga began in 1977 with George Lucas' ground-breaking first film of the space opera series, which saw the rise of iconic characters Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Princess Leia.

It also featured Darth Vader, Luke and Leia's father, whose ominous black costume and deep voice made him one of cinema's most prolific villains.

In the as-yet-untitled new film, Oscar will be joined by co-stars Daisy Ridley, Mark, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Kelly Marie Tran and Domhnall Gleeson.

Original Star Wars actor Billie Dee Williams will also return to the franchise for the first time in the sequel trilogy to reprise his role as Lando Calrissian.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
