«Breaking News» Newcastle Sainsbury's staff record Greatest Showman spoof in their store for Comic Relief

Supermarket staff have filmed a spoof version of the theme tune to the hit movie The Greatest Showman down the aisles of their store.

60 colleagues at Sainsbury's in Heaton, Newcastle, came together to make the hilarious music video for Comic Relief.

Cashiers, bakers and shelf-stackers each sing a different line to 'The Greatest Show'.

In the three minute video, workers take it in turn to dress up in a ringmaster jacket with a tophat and stick.

As each line of the popular The Greatest Showman song tunefully belted out, customers are seen appearing not to notice and continue with their shopping.

Workers can also be spotted wearing red noses and pushing food carts down the aisles.

Those working on the customer service desk, the kiosk and the cafe also make star appearances.

At one point a man on the bakery counter chants the chorus, before being hit in the face by a cream pie.

Store assistant Tom Humphrey, the first person to sing in the video, said: 'Sainsbury's has always been a big supporter of Comic Relief for 20 years now.

'As a store we always like to do something to kind of raise awareness and raise money for it.

'We just really wanted to do a spoof music video.

'A lot of it was me having to talk people into it at first, most of them were not very keen until they put that red coat on and suddenly it was like they became Hugh Jackman.

'It took about six weeks because obviously all the colleagues work different days, different shifts so, having to record them all, it took quite a while - but it was worth it.

'The strange thing is customers wouldn't even bat an eye lid. It was as if it was the most normal thing.

'The feedback has been amazing, it's spread so quickly. All the comments and stuff are just amazing.

'There's a lot of shock from family members, surprised that a few of them can sing.

'As well as this video we are doing fundraising in the store, people just come in and pop whatever change they have in the bucket.'

Cashiers, bakers and shelf-stackers...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
