New Zealanders are stocking up on assault rifles as the country's relaxed gun laws appear set to change.
White supremacist Brenton Tarrant allegedly killed 50 people in an attack on two mosques in Christchurch on Friday, and Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has said she is committed to strengthening the nation's gun control laws.
David Tipple, managing director of Gun City - one of New Zealand's biggest firearm retailers - revealed on Monday the 28-year-old Australian had purchased four weapons and ammunition from the store, but they were not the same ones used in the attack.
He was unable to confirm if the shotgun used in the shootings was purchased at Gun City.

'I have informed the police that Gun City sold the alleged gunman four ''A Category'' firearms and ammunition,' Mr Tipple said during a press conference.
'All Gun City sales to this individual followed a police-verified online mail order process.'
Mr Tipple said Tarrant placed 'three or four' online orders for guns from November 2017 until March 2018.
'We detected nothing extraordinary about this licence holder. The MSSA (military-style semi-automatic weapon) reportedly used by the alleged gunman was not purchased from Gun City,' he said.
'Gun City did not sell him an MSSA, only ''A Category'' firearms.
'I and Gun City fully support the Prime Minister's swift and decisive actions following this tragedy.
'We will be fully co-operating with the police and government to ensure that any review and changes to legislation prevent a reoccurance.
'Accurate concerns have been raised and we want to assist in ensuring effective responses.
'I am offering any help I can with improvements and am writing to the Prime Minister and police.'
Tipple said he would keep the store open despite its closeness to the mosques where the shootings took place.
'We didn't sell him the rifle used in the incident. I watched the video and saw the rifle... and it was not from any Gun City-affiliated store,' Mr Tipple said.
He said Tarrant bought the guns a month after he obtained his gun licence.

Mr Tipple (pictured) disputed reports that people have been 'panic buying' assault rifles
Firearms owners and sellers reported increased buying of semi-automatic weapons following the shooting, while a gun shop owner in Auckland said their phone was ringing constantly with shoppers looking to buy.
Gun City's Auckland store has sold out of AR15s but other semi-automatic guns were available to buy, Stuff reported.
Mr Tipple disputed reports that people had been 'panic buying' assault rifles, saying that was not the case.
The shop describes itself as the 'largest gun store in the world', and has stores in each major centre in New Zealand including Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

Gun City was criticised in the wake of the shootings for a billboard showing a man teaching young children how to shoot air rifles in the backyard.
Mr Tipple said he would consider removing the billboard.
New Zealand's legislation concerning semi-automatic weapons was written after the Aramoana massacre in 1990, when David Gray killed 13 people after a dispute with his neighbour.
Lightweight AR15s can be bought with a standard gun rifle licence, and can then be modified to become MSSA weapons.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
