«Breaking News» Kyle Sandilands says there could be huge repercussions if Alan Jones switches to another station

On Saturday, it was revealed that top-rating radio broadcaster Alan Jones, 77, was considering moving to a rival radio station.

And on Monday, KIIS FM star Kyle Sandilands warned that the repercussions could be 'catastrophic' if Jones jumps ship from 2GB to another network.

Kyle, 47, told The Daily Telegraph: 'It would be catastrophic for Jones to show up at another radio station.'

He added: 'I think they (2GB management) are very foolish not to have secured him already.'

Kyle, who consistently tops the FM breakfast ratings with his Kyle & Jackie O Show, said 2GB listeners could leave the station in droves if Jones moves.

That could cause ratings to plunge for the rest of 2GB's programs, given that Jones hosts the station's high-rating breakfast show, Kyle added.

2GB has a lot to lose - to start 2019 in Sydney, 2GB continued its dominance of the commercial market, with a 13.4 per cent audience share.

The Macquarie Media station retained the top breakfast slot with a 15.2 per cent audience share, despite dropping by 1.3 per cent since last survey.

KIIS FM's Kyle & Jackie O came in second, holding onto the number one position for FM commercial radio breakfast with an audience size of 10.1 per cent.

Shock jock Kyle and his co-host Jackie 'O' Henderson, 44, famously left 2Day FM for KIIS FM in January 2014 and brought their high ratings with them.

On Saturday, the Daily Telegraph revealed that Macquarie Media had left Jones' contract negotiations to the last minute, leading the veteran broadcaster to consider offers elsewhere.

Macquarie has until Wednesday to negotiate with Jones before the ratings winner is free to consider offers from other radio stations.

Five years ago, on the 19th of January 2014, Kyle and Jackie launched ARN's KIIS FM 106.5 with their first breakfast show.

Remarkably, the duo managed to take most of their listening audience with them, taking KIIS to the number one spot in the ratings.

Kyle, 47,...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
