«Breaking News» The internet reacts to Michael Avenatti getting arrested for extortion moments after a Nike scandal

Within hours of attorney Michael Avenatti tweeting a promise to reveal a Nike scandal, federal prosecutors in New York had arrested and charged the California lawyer with attempting to extort millions of dollars out of the athletics giant.


The rapid turn of events led to people chiming in with jokes about adult film star Stormy Daniels' former lawyer. 


The memes didn't discriminate by topic, ranging from poking fun at Avenatti's love for the camera to joking about how this is the best day ever for President Donald Trump.


Trump and Avenatti famously barbed online over a $130,000 payment to Daniels to keep an alleged affair secret, which resulted in Trump's former fixer Michael Cohen pleading guilty to campaign finance violations.

'Tmrw at 11 am ET, we will be holding a press conference to disclose a major high school/college basketball scandal perpetrated by @Nike that we have uncovered,' he wrote. 


'This criminal conduct reaches the highest levels of Nike and involves some of the biggest names in college basketball.'


Now Avenatti stands accused of trying to extort $25 million from Nike over a conference call, according to court documents filed on Monday by the US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York.

'A suit and tie doesn’t mask the fact that at its core this was an old-fashioned shakedown,' Manhattan US Attorney Geoffrey Berman said on Monday. 


Donald Trump Jr. wrote a series of tweets including: '#MAGA - Michael Avenatti Getting Arrested!!!' 


Another Twitter user posted the famous of picture of President Trump seemingly shouting at a boy with with a lawnmower. The picture is captioned: 'Did you hear Avenatti is going to jail.'


Trump's former campaign manager, Corey R. Lewandowski wrote: 'Michael Avenatti was just arrested. Does this mean he won’t be on Cable News Tonight?'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
