«Breaking News» The Crown to cast Princess Diana as a 'desperate and lonely self-harmer'

The Crown reportedly plans to portray Princess Diana as a ‘desperate and lonely self-harmer’ in season four.

Peter Morgan, the creator behind the popular Netflix series, is casting the part of the young princess as she struggles to befriend her in-laws, The Queen and Prince Philip.

An advert for the role allegedly says the show is looking for a ‘staggeringly talented young actress’ to play the late princess aged between 18 to 22.

According to The Sun, it reads: ‘We need a mesmerising new young star with extraordinary range.

‘She has to play charming comedy, flirt and social exhibitionist on the world stage, desperate and lonely self-harmer at her lowest ebb and the kind of psychological intensity of Mia Farrow in Rosemary’s Baby.’

The 1968 movie is about a young mother who comes to believe her offspring is the Devil’s child.

A TV insider told the publication that the hit drama’s creator won’t hold back on his portrayal of Princess Diana, and that ‘it could ruffle a few feathers’.

Favourites to play the royal range from Little Drummer Girl actress Florence Pugh, 23, to Bohemian Rhapsody star Lucy Boynton, 25. 

The third series, which sees Olivia Colman play the Queen and Helena Bonham-Carter in the role of Princess Margaret, finished filming last month.

It is set to be released on Netflix in July.

Colman recently described playing Queen Elizabeth II as one of her most difficult to date 'because everyone knows what she looks like, everyone knows what she sounds like, everyone has an opinion on whether the casting is right’. 

The Broadchurch star is taking over the lead role from Claire Foy, as the show's time setting moves along to follow the monarch's rule across the 1960s and 1970s.

The new actors will follow in their predecessor's footsteps and play the royals for two seasons before the cast will change once again, in order to portray the characters accurately as they age.

Leading Lady: Olivia Colman has taken over from Claire Foy as Queen Elizabeth while Tobias Menzies plays Prince Philip, previously played by Matt Smith

Coming soon: Helena Bonham-Carter has taken over the role of Princess Margaret for series three and four while Ben Daniels also joins the cast as her husband Lord Snowdon

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
