«Breaking News» Channel Seven's The Front Bar smashes Nine's Footy Show in the ratings

Channel Nine's revamped AFL Footy Show returned to television on Wednesday.

But the Channel Nine program proved to be a ratings flop, drawing just 290,000 viewers in the five-city metro market.

As reported by Mumbrella on Thursday, The AFL Footy Show way behind Channel Seven's The Front Bar, which attracted 400,000 viewers.

In Melbourne specifically, The Front Bar beat The AFL Footy Show to become the second most-watched show of the night behind Married At First Sight.

These figures will no doubt disappoint Channel Nine bosses, as they demonstrate how The AFL Footy Show is failing to attract viewers in the sport's spiritual home.

Of course, it's not the first time The Footy Show has been smashed in the ratings by its upstart rival.

Last August, The AFL Footy Show and its NRL edition in Sydney attracted a combined 348,000 viewers.

But this wasn't enough to topple The Front Bar, which drew an audience of 362,000.

The 2019 revamp of The AFL Footy Show has introduced comedian Anthony 'Lehmo' Lehmann and TV presenter Neroli Meadows as co-hosts.

Wheelchair tennis star Dylan Alcott and ex-footballer Brendan Fevola, who was a rotating panellist last year, also joined Wednesday night's panel.

Last year, Footy Show host Eddie McGuire announced on his Triple M breakfast show that the long-running program would be entirely revamped for 2019.

Eddie also confirmed that he and colleague Sam Newman would only feature sporadically in the 'completely new format'.

The AFL Footy Show continues Wednesday at 9pm on Channel Nine in Melbourne. The Front Bar airs in the same time slot on Channel Seven.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
