«Breaking News» Bizarre moment New York City subway passenger manages to get a 30ft metal girder onto a busy train

This is the bizarre moment a passenger manages to carry a 30ft metal girder onto the New York City Subway, much to the amusement of fellow travelers.

Footage taken by bystanders shows the man dragging the sizable hulk of metal on to the L train, before soliciting the help of other passengers to maneuver it inside. 

Eventually managing to get the beam inside, the passenger is seen with a wide smile on his face, apparently proud of his bizarre accomplishment.

It is not clear how the man obtained the beam, or what his intended use was, but he was able to involve random passersby into his unusual attempts

Another clip, filmed by Louneymor, shows the man initially getting the beam into the station by carrying it on his back.

Followers of the Instagram page 'Subway Creatures', which documents some of the more bizarre happenings on the city's transport links, were left with mixed emotions.

One person joked: 'The kind of stuff New Yorkers deal with on a daily basis is mind blowing.'

The man struggles to get the girder onto the train, but still manages to get a seat on board in between his bizarre luggage

Another also joked: 'This is MY I-beam. There are many like it, but this one is mine.'

MindlessNat said: You have to admire his dedication.' 

It is not the first time someone has brought an unusual object onto the subway.

One commuter managed to really put his feet up after taking a leather sofa onto a carriage, and then reclining in it. 

In a brief clip filmed by fellow passengers, the man was seen taking it easy as the train rides on the IRT Lexington Avenue Line.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
