«Breaking News» Woman who broke her wrist in car crash involving Prince Philip slams decision not to prosecute

A woman who broke her wrist in a car crash involving Prince Philip has criticised the decision not to prosecute the 97-year-old.

Emma Fairweather, 46, was with another woman and a nine-month baby when the Kia they were travelling in collided with a Land Rover Freelander being driven by the duke on January 17 this year.

The force of the crash near Sandringham rolled the 4x4 onto its side, while the Kia was also badly damaged following the crash along the A149.

Philip escaped the crash without injury, although the women involved in the crash required hospital treatment for their injuries. The baby miraculously escaped unhurt.

At the time, the Duke of Edinburgh had claimed he was 'dazzled by the sun' in the moments prior to the collision - but Ms Fairweather claimed it was overcast.

Today, the Chief Crown Prosecutor for the area confirmed the Duke will not be pursued by police as a prosecution is 'not in the public interest'.

But reacting to the news, Ms Fairweather told The Mirror: 'I don't know if everyone would have been treated that way. It's not a shock, really.

'I think he surrendered his licence last weekend to avoid prosecution. He will have been heavily advised. The whole thing feels managed and controlled.'

It comes after the Duke voluntarily gave up his driving licence - and earlier apologised for his role in the accident.

CPS bosses say the decision not to prosecute the Duke was based on his age and choice to surrender his licence.

Speaking today, Chris Long, Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS East of England, said: 'The CPS has carefully reviewed material submitted by the police in relation to a traffic collision on the A149 on 17 January this year.

'We took into account all of the circumstances in this case, including the level of culpability, the age of the driver and the surrender of the driving licence.

'We have decided that it would not be in the public interest to prosecute.

'All those involved in the collision have been informed and provided with a full explanation in writing.'

The decision was made after considering all the evidence submitted by the police and in accordance with the two stage test in the Code for Crown Prosecutors.

A Buckingham Palace spokesman said: 'The Duke of Edinburgh respects the decision taken by the Crown Prosecution Service.'

Despite no longer having his licence, he will still be allowed to drive on the grounds of the numerous royal estates and on private land.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
