«Breaking News» Olivia Colman's makeover after Oscar winning role in The Favourite

She provided the 91st Academy Awards' big moment on Sunday, with her surprise win and emotional acceptance speech for the Best Actress Oscar.

And as well as celebrating her acting talents, Sunday night also highlighted Olivia's hard work since filming her award-winning role as Queen Anne in The Favourite.

The British actress, 45, gained two and a half stone to portray the clinically obese and gout-ridden monarch for Yorgos Lanthimos' film, and has admitted that while she relished the eating involved to pile on the pounds, losing them after wrapping the movie was a 'depressing' ordeal.

While Lanthimos' lauded film has stretched historical accuracy with its, bawdy, larger than life glimpse at the 18th century monarch and her dalliances, the filmmaker was keen for his leading lady to stick to the facts when it came to Anne's appearance.

Suffering from gout and the grief of losing seventeen children, Anne relied on her ladies in waiting - laying the groundwork for the film which sees Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone fight it out for Olivia's affections.

Speaking to the Express last year, Olivia explained Lanthimos insisted she put on the weight, but it was she who decided not to take the easy route.

Olivia Colman won Best Actress for her role in The Favourite at the Academy Awards last night, and didn't she just look gorgeous for the occasion in this green gown?

She's got it right at every turn this awards season, wearing dresses by the likes of Emilia Wickstead and Stella McCartney, but for the biggest night of them all she turned to Prada.

Her custom made creation features a high neck and an embellished sheer black overlay, which creates a cold should effect and runs into a dramatic train at the back, complete with a bow for good measure. Add in some Chopard jewellery, and Olivia looked every inch the Hollywood A-lister.

'She was very big and he [Lanthimos] wanted to see that on camera ... and I didn't want to use prosthetics, so I spent a few months eating, which was enjoyable,' she explained.

Once the 45 day shoot at Hatfield House in Hertfordshire wrapped in May 2017, Olivia didn't have long to ditch the pounds before she transformed into another monarch.

The acclaimed actress had been cast in Netflix hit The Crown, taking over from Claire Foy to play Queen Elizabeth II.

With filming starting on that regal role in 2018, alongside another part in the Les Miserables TV series, Olivia was on a mission to lose the weight.

'It became quite depressing. Because it goes on so easily but, gosh, it doesn't come off as easily,' she admitted to the Express, adding though in another interview with the Metro that she was keen to get back to a healthy weight after suffering the affects.

'You don't sleep as well. You feel under-confident. Even though I was doing it for a reason, and it was fun to say "yes" to everything, I didn't feel quite as energetic with the kids [she has three, with husband Ed Sinclair] and my knees hurt.'

Canadian born fitness coach Dalton Wong was hired to help, with the trainer also working with Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence.

'In Olivia’s case, she wanted to change her body shape for a new role, which involved helping her to improve her strength and energy levels,' Wong explained to The Telegraph recently, adding that there was the added incentive of awards season being just around the corner.

'As the workouts happened to coincide with the awards season, the posture work I incorporated into her fitness regime helped her to look amazing on the red carpet.'

Olivia trained at Wong’s Kensington studio three times a week with a 60-minute circuit training session, followed by a 30-minute physical therapy massage to release muscle tension and prevent injuries.

Wong also worked with Olivia on her diet, with the actress sending her trainer photos of her meals and he suggesting tweaks to better balance her nutrition.

For all the glitz and glam though, the actress has declared that she found playing dowdy Queen Anne freeing, confessing to the Independent

'I wasn’t meant to look nice or be nice, and it was liberating and brilliant.'

'I find it more embarrassing to try to look good. I think I’ve been fortunate to be cast in these roles, because it’s very difficult for young women or men who are seen in one way, and then they are not allowed to age.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
