She always looks stunning when she attends any showbiz event.

And things were no different for Carey Mulligan as she turned heads in an eye-catching bejewelled gown at the Film Independent Spirit Awards in Santa Monica, California on Saturday.

The actress, 33, looked enchanting in a gold and white midi dress adorned with brightly coloured gems and shiny gold sequins.

The star teamed her angelic look with a pair of strappy gold sandals as she posed on the blue carpet for the 34th annual film event.

Letting her magnificent dress do all the talking, Carey left her blonde locks to simply hang on her shoulders, while she accessorised with simple gold jewellery.

She added a touch of sparkle to her eye make-up, but kept the rest of her cosmetics to a minimum. 

Carey, who's set to star in thriller Promising Young Woman, was joined a plethora of other famous faces at the glitzy event.

50 Shades of Grey star Dakota Johnson looked stunning in a low-cut top with a sweetheart neckline and matching slacks. 

The brunette, 29, also had on black strappy heels that showed off her foot tattoo. 

Also attending the event was actress Chloe Grace Moretz, 22, who dared to bare in a dramatic plunging black gown complete with large, tiered pirate sleeves and an uneven hem.

Brooklyn Beckham's ex added black patent leather heels to her look, while she opted for simple hair and pastel coloured make-up.

Glenn Close, 71, was also in attendance at the showbiz bash, rocking an eye-catching purple metallic suit. 

The movie star hit the carpet in pointed nude pumps with a silky pink camisole beneath her jacket.

The Fatal Attraction actress later presented Richard E. Grant, 61, the Best Supporting Male award for his film Can You Ever Forgive Me?

Aubrey Plaza hosts this year's show which includes fewer Oscar contenders than usual.

The top nominees are Bo Burnham's coming-of-age tale 'Eighth Grade,' Lynne Ramsey's existentialist thriller 'You Were Never Really Here,' Paul Schrader's religious drama 'First Reformed' and Jeremiah Zagar's lyrical 'We the Animals.'

While the Oscars feature no women nominated for best director, the Spirits have three: Ramsey, Tamara Jenkins ('Private Life') and Debra Granik ('Leave No Trace')

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
