«Breaking News» Hunt for 'Big Sexy' the cat who went missing during FDNY calendar photo shoot two weeks ago

A sweeping search has been launched for a beloved cat who went missing during a New York City fire department calendar photo shoot.

'Big Sexy' - whose real name is Buddy - got spooked while getting ready to go in front of the camera for FDNY's upcoming Calendar of Heroes on January 20.

The long-haired black cat bolted under a fire engine and is believed to have slipped out of the station at Engine 4/Ladder 15 in Lower Manhattan.

Brutally cold temperatures as low as 2 degrees Fahrenheit have been reported in the days since Big Sexy went missing.

'We are hoping hard that we find him,' the cat's heartbroken owner Leslie Silbert told the New York Daily News.

'Most of all I hope he's not suffering. If he could send me a postcard that said: "Hey, I found a better set-up, all is well, best wishes!"' I could deal. But the idea that my fluffy main squeeze is terrified and tortured with cold and hunger is what's the hardest.'

Though Big Sexy's disappearance has attracted a significant amount of media attention, Silbert said she's only been sent two photographs of cats that ended up not being him.

'There's been more media interest than kitty sightings,' she said.

Silbert adopted Buddy as a kitten two years ago after he was found wandering through a hospital in Harlem and a worker brought him to the Manhattan Animal Care Centers shelter.

'I thought I would take him in as a foster cat for a little while because I live alone and taking care of a cat is a big deal, but I had him for three weeks and I didn’t want to give him back,' she said.

'It's like his story has gone full circle. He was found at a hospital — a lifesaving enterprise — and he disappeared at another lifesaving enterprise.'

Big Sexy was one of five cats and seven dogs adopted from Animal Care Centers of NYC who were being photographed with  firefighters and emergency medical technicians with pets for the 2020 FDNY Calendar of Heroes.

Proceeds will go to the FDNY Foundation and Animal Care Centers.

Silbert said that after Big Sexy ran off, firefighters used thermal imaging technology to search the station. All of the exits were sealed during the shoot so no one knows how the cat escaped.

'I've set cat traps in the firehouse [and] they kindly let me in to call for him and freshen the food in the traps,' she said.

'He is chipped, so if he somehow darted outside into the cold and if someone turns him in to a shelter I can be contacted.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
