«Breaking News» How to tell if your Botox is botched and if the WRONG muscle has been injected

The trend for non-invasive cosmetic enhancements has increased by 20 per cent in the past year alone, thanks to the likes of Kylie Jenner and various Love Island stars.

The latest figures from BAAPS (British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons) show that women had 28,315 surgical procedures last year, and requests for Botox and filler among 19-34-year-olds rose by 41 per cent between 2011 and 2015.

But with the influx of Instagram-perfect selfies, come almost just as many complaints of botched treatments.

Dr Harry Singh, from Hertfordshire, runs award-winning Botulinum Toxin Club, a leading facial aesthetics training workshop for dentists, doctors, medics, specialists and nurses.

Speaking to FEMAIL, he admitted: 'If you find yourself in the hands of an amateur the results of bad Botox can be completely invisible or even disastrous.

'You can end up with asymmetric  features, dropping eyelids or even a 'Spock brow'- named after the iconic Star Trek character - when you have an extreme arch in one or both brows.

'Good Botox should always look natural and make you look like a better version of yourself'.

5 signs your Botox is botched

1. You have a frozen look

Botox works on wrinkles by temporarily paralysing facial muscles, preventing lines from forming.

However, when administered properly, this should not impair your facial movements.

You should be able to show a full range of expressions including frowning and raising the eyebrows- if  you are not able to do this you have most likely been over-injected.

2. There's asymmetry in your treated features

Another common complaint I see with botched Botox, is facial asymmetry.

If if one eyebrow is higher than the other one,  for example, this can mean the correct areas were not injected. Lid ptosis – a dropping eyelid- is another indication.

Not only are these imperfections embarrassing, but they can take a while to subside.

3. You don't look natural

Botox is intended to remove lines in the key areas of your forehead, around your frown lines and eyes.

Approximately 90 per cent of people who have Botox do it for themselves and don't want others to notice notice they've even they have had it done.

If someone can spot you've from a mile away, it could be a sign of over use or that the wrong areas have been injected, and it may be time to find a new practitioner.

4. You have a 'spock' brow

This this is the term given to eyebrows which upturn sharply and unnaturally, which is usually a result of the wrong muscle being injected.

Sometimes further injections can be used to reverse the effects, otherwise you will have to wait three to four months for them to wear off.

Good Botox makes you look like a better version of you, not an extra from Star Trek.

5. You can't see any difference

Injecting into the wrong muscle, bypassing the muscle altogether or injecting into the wrong muscle can result in your Botox having absolutely no effect whatsoever.

The rules of injection and strict adherence to the injector's knowledge of facial anatomy must be followed for the ultimate natural look.

How does Botox work?

Botox is a brand name of a toxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum, and is injected into the face to reduce lines and wrinkles.

When the drug is administered in small doses it blocks signals from the nerves to the muscle.

The injected muscle can no longer contract, which causes the wrinkle to relax and soften.

It is most often used on forehead lines, crow's feet (lines around the eye) and frown lines.

The effects usually last for four to six months, but the procedure can result in side effects including bruising, swelling and asymmetry.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
