«Breaking News» Coronation Street: Kym Marsh's Michelle Connor 'set for a tough few months before exit'

She confirmed on Monday that she was quitting the soap after 13 years.

But Coronation Street's Michelle Connor is reportedly set for a difficult few months before she says goodbye to the cobbles, according to The Sun.

A source told the publication that the character - played by Kym Marsh - will be devastated when she discovers she is not pregnant in the coming weeks, and the fallout will also lead to her split from boyfriend Robert Preston (played by Tristan Gemmill).

The source teased: 'Bosses are packing her scripts. This week it was revealed she thought she was pregnant, but the twist is she’s not. Then her and Robert break up.'

MailOnline has contacted representatives for Coronation Street.

In scenes set to air next Michelle will tell Robert that she thinks she might be expecting, after the couple decided they wanted to try for a baby.

Of course this comes after Michelle was left devastated in 2017, when her son Ruari sadly passed away after being born at just 23 weeks.

In heart-wrenching scenes the much-loved character was devastated when doctors were unable to revive him, as he was born before 24 weeks when a baby is considered premature.

The fallout proved explosive as Michelle also discovered that her husband Steve McDonald had fathered a child with Leanne Battersby, destroying their marriage for good.

And last year Michelle suffered a nasty brush with death, after she was almost run over by the villainous Ronan Truman who was in pursuit of her son Ryan.

On Monday Kym left fans distraught with the news that she would be departing Coronation Street after 13 years, explaining she wanted to try some new roles 

She told The Sun: 'When I was lucky enough to be offered four episodes I could never in my wildest dreams have thought I’d be here 13 years later. 

'It’s been an incredibly difficult decision but it feels like the right time for me to explore some other roles. 

Kym found fame in the pop group Hear'Say which she joined after taking part in the TV series Popstars in 2001.

She made her on screen acting debut four years later in an episode of Doctors before joining Coronation Street in 2006.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
