«Breaking News» ‘Foreign man’ is shot dead in upmarket area of Marbella popular with British expats

A 'foreign' man was shot dead in an upmarket area of the Costa del Sol popular with British expatriates.

The shooting took place at around 8.30pm local time last night in a residential area of Marbella known as Nagueles, where many Brits live in large mansions and gated estates.

Well-placed sources said they believed the latest victim in the upsurge of violence affecting the popular British holiday destination was 'foreign', although there was no immediate confirmation of his nationality.

The gunman fled on a motorbike after shooting his victim several times as he reached the garage where he normally parks.

A National Police spokesman said: 'We can confirm that we are investigating an incident with a firearm which has result in the death of a man who was shot in a residential area of Marbella.

'The incident happened around 8.30pm.'

The hunt for the killer is ongoing.

A police patrol car was parked across the entrance to the quiet residential street where the victim was gunned down.

Officers were expected to spend much of the night working at the property he is understood to have lived at - a large detached house on the corner of the street which serves as a cut-through from the nearby motorway to residential estates in the hills above Marbella.

National Police officers from Marbella Police Station as well as a specialist unit tackling drugs and violent crime were called to the scene.

Recent months have seen the Costa del Sol rocked by gangland-style incidents.

On October 27 a Dutch gangster was shot dead in a sushi restaurant in Benalmadena.

It happened less than three weeks after two bomb blasts, linked to an ongoing gang war.

One went off outside a house on a gated estate in the Costa del Sol town of Benhavis, which is popular with British expats and holidaymakers.

The second exploded at almost the same time outside a car wash firm on an industrial estate in nearby San Pedro de Alcantara close to the resort of Marbella which is owned by the man whose home was targeted.

No-one was injured in the blasts, although several cars were destroyed.

Police said at the time they were linking the two October 10 incidents, which followed the discovery of another home-made bomb on a residential area called Alto de los Monteros east of Marbella.

Bomb squad officers carried out a controlled explosion to make the device safe after being alerted on September 11.

A Dutch national linked to organised crime - the man later shot dead in the Benalmadena sushi restaurant called Tiki - was later arrested.

On September 19 a 24-year-old Brit was stabbed twice in the legs by an assailant who attacked him in the street without warning in the popular resort of Puerto Banus.

The violent crime occurred ten days after a 35-year-old Brit was shot, stabbed, beaten and given a Glasgow Smile close to the same area after being abducted by a gang of criminals over a drug deal.

The torture victim was later identified as Craig Moran, jailed for 13 years for his part in a September 2003 armed raid on a jeweller's in Nottingham in which shop owner Marian Bates was killed.

The resort of Estepona, a 20-minute drive west of Marbella, was the scene of a shocking kidnap earlier this month when criminals kidnapped a Spanish man on the street in front of tourists and locals.

The 29-year-old, who was known to police and said to be linked to drugs trafficking, was later found stabbed to death in a car in the Spanish port city of Algeciras.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
