«Breaking News» Defendant, aged SIX, appears alone in immigration court after being separated from father in June

A six-year-old boy was forced to appear in immigration court by himself after being separated from his father under President Donald Trump's zero tolerance policy nearly six months ago.

Wilder Hilario Maldonado Cabrera was called up in front of a judge in San Antonio just before Thanksgiving, accompanied only by an attorney who volunteered to accompany him after he entered the courtroom alone.

According to ProPublica, the young boy from El Salvador is one of the last children left in government custody following the Trump administration's immigration policy, which saw the separation of more than 2,600 children from their parents.

Wilder's legs swung beneath him as he did his best to answer questions from Judge Anibal Martinez in Spanish, as he does not know any English.

When Martinez asked whether the boy's father was still detained, the prosecutor said he didn't know.

Wilder and his father, Hilario Maldonado, were separated on June 6 after they crossed the border illegally and sought asylum, ProPublica reports.

Authorities determined that they did not qualify for asylum and refused to reunite Maldonado with his son while the decision was appealed because he had an old warrant for a DUI when he lived in Florida over a decade ago.

Officials say that while a federal court ordered the discontinuation of the zero tolerance policy, it exempted cases involving parents who posed security risks to their child.

Immigration lawyers say many of those cases involve minor, nonviolent criminal offenses such as Maldonado's.

The father is currently in federal custody at an immigration detention facility less than an hour's drive from the court.

He and Wilder have only been able to speak on the phone sporadically since they were separated.

Wilder's mother, Maria Elida Cabrera, is still in a remote mountain village in El Salvador with the couple's three other children.

She told ProPublica that she has struggled to feed the family on her own because Maldonado was the breadwinner, and that she's scraped by with help from immigrant advocacy groups familiar with Wilder's case.

As the six-year-old entered the courthouse he froze in front of the metal detector, unsure what to make of the foreign contraption.

The bailiff had to nudge him through, telling him: 'No seas nervioso,' - 'don't be nervous'.

The attorney helped Wilder put on his headphones so he could hear the court translator during the proceedings, which he likely didn't understand anyway.

She then asked Judge Martinez to set postpone any decisions regarding the boy’s asylum claim until he could arrange to have his own lawyer.

The judge agreed, saying: 'Wilder, I wish you well. We’ll see you soon.'

Before he left the courtroom the huge Spider-Man fan waved at Martinez and pretended to shoot spiderwebs from his wrists.

He also waved at the bailiff and said: 'Bye policía.'

Wilder was the youngest defendant to appear on the docket that day as the court was filled with other minors, most of them teens who had migrated to the US on their own.

Most of the children detained under the zero tolerance policy in place from April to June have been reunited with their relatives.

Wilder is one of about 120 children still in federal custody because their parents are either detained or have been deported.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
