«Breaking News» Cheryl discusses first Christmas as a single mum with son Bear

She is preparing for her first Christmas as a single mother with son Bear, one.

And revealing her plans for the festive holiday, Cheryl has admitted she is hesitant about taking her baby boy to see Santa Claus, as she thinks it will 'worry' him.

The singer, 35, spoke of her plans with Bear, while candidly revealing how motherhood has changed her in an interview backstage at Hits Radio Live in Manchester on Sunday.

Cheryl had taken to the stage at Manchester Arena, along with a slew of famous faces including Little Mix and Ellie Goulding for the star-studded event.

She stopped by for a chat with Sarah-Jane Crawford backstage at the concert and conversation quickly turned to the former Girls Aloud star's son Bear - whom she shares with ex-boyfriend Liam Payne.

She and Liam announced their split in July, just months after Bear's first birthday, meaning the star is preparing for her first Christmas as a single mother.

And opening up on the plans she has with her little man, Cheryl said: 'People have asked me, "Are you going to take him to see Father Christmas?" [but] I think he would still be a little bit worried.

'[It will be a], "Who's this guy with the long beard?" moment.

Cheryl welcomed son Bear in March 2017 and has since gushed about how motherhood has changed her.

Claiming becoming a mum has 'enriched' her as a woman, Cheryl added in her backstage interview: 'It enriches you, it changes you as a person.

'I used to hear people say I feel like I've joined a club that I never knew existed but I get it now.'

She claims she now 'understands so much more' about motherhood and about women, as she praised women for the 'amazing' things they can 'achieve with their bodies' and the way they adapt to having a child.

'It's mind-blowing': Cheryl also revealed how motherhood has changed her, insisting it has 'enriched' her as a woman and that she is now a different person

Cheryl had been among the lineup for the Hits Radio Live event, where she delighted fans with a performance of her comeback single Love Made Me Do It.

Earlier this month, the star released her first single in four years - a track alluding to her past romances that she penned alongside BFF and former Girls Aloud bandmate Nicola Roberts.

Cheryl stunned on stage in a sequin and feathered leotard and was supported by her ex-beau Liam's family, as his sister Ruth shared her excitement over seeing the former X Factor judge perform.

Ahead of the Hits Radio Live show Ruth took to Twitter to respond to a follower who asked who she was most excited to see, simply posting the word: 'Chezzaa.'

Her tweet seems to suggest that Cheryl has stayed on good terms with Liam's family even after their split in July, which came after two years together and 16 months after the birth of their son Bear.

Since announcing her chart comeback, Cheryl has received support from ex Liam publicly too.

He was quick to congratulate Cheryl on the release of her new track and told fans he 'can't wait to hear' the rest of her new music.

While Cheryl was co-hosting Nick Grimshaw's show on BBC Radio 1 with the presenter, she revealed that Liam had text her and playfully asked her to plug his track Polaroid while on air.

Speaking about her former love's track, she said: 'I do love the song but he did say play my song,' before adding: 'He says we’re a hilarious duo, this should be a regular thing.'

Meanwhile, Cheryl's appearance at the Manchester gig comes after she was criticised for performing a 'raunchy' routine to her new single, and came under fire for her live vocals, while performing on The X Factor.

Cheryl herself posted an impassioned message on Twitter, defending herself, after her performance garnered 45 Ofcom complaints.

In a strongly-worded message, the singer did admit that her music and performances 'aren't for everyone', but she had watched back her performance of Love Made Me Do It and loved it - despite claims she had been left 'devastated' over the negative response.

Love Made Me Do It chartered at number 19 in the UK charts following its release.

Cheryl is set to release two new singles early next year in 2019, according to her label, before releasing a full-length album.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
