«Breaking News» Cars separate on NYC-bound Amtrak train leaving passengers stranded

Passengers on a New York City-bound Amtrak train became stranded for two hours on the night before Thanksgiving, one of the busiest travel days of the year, when two of its cars separated. There were no reports of injuries.

Train 68, called the Adirondack, was heading from Montreal, when it experienced what Amtrak called a 'mechanical issue' just before 7:30 p.m. near Albany, New York.

Chuck Reeves, a software engineer from Troy, New York, was on his way to his parents' home on Long Island for Thanksgiving and had boarded the first car behind the locomotive in Albany.

Shortly after the train pulled away, he said, he and other passengers heard a pop and a hiss, smelled electrical burning, and felt a rush of cold air as the cars behind them ripped away.

Passengers looked back and saw that the car behind them was suddenly gone. The New York City-bound Amtrak train separated about 25 miles south of the Albany-Rensselaer station

'Everyone started turning around,' he said, only to see there was no more train behind them.

The engine soon slowed to a stop, and a conductor left the detached cars behind and boarded his car.

On the cars that got separated, a quick-thinking passenger pulled the emergency brake to prevent them from running away, other passenger said.

'When the carts disconnected, I felt a rumble. I thought, 'Oh God this can't be good.' Next thing you knew we were stopped in the middle of the tracks,' one passenger told Fox News

With plunging temperatures and rising tensions on the stranded train cars, two people nearly got in a fight before the crew intervened, the passenger said.

Some crying children were comforted by their parents, Reeves said, but for the most part no one panicked. A state trooper soon boarded to make sure everyone was safe.

Another train was brought in to take passengers on the rest of their journey.

When the replacement train arrived at Penn Station, there were tearful family reunions.

Reeves said he opted to turn back home and have his brother drive him to his parents' home on Thursday.

The train was carrying 287 passengers and crew. There was no word on what caused the problem.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
