«Breaking News» Bernie Sanders signals possible 2020 presidential run

Bernie Sanders will 'probably run' for president in 2020 if he sees himself as the Democrats' best chance to defeat Donald Trump. 

Sanders, 77, launched an extraordinary run for the 2016 Democratic nomination, and while he came up short against Hillary Clinton, many Sanders supporters express confidence that he could have beaten Trump for the White House.

Speaking to New York Magazine, the US senator said he would run once more if it turns out he is the best candidate but if not, he would 'work his a** off' to get that person elected.

Sanders told the New York Magazine he still believes his ideas are best for the nation, but is not openly campaigning for the nomination.

'I'm not one of those sons of multimillionaires whose parents told them they were going to become president of the United States,' he told New York magazine in a piece released late Sunday.

'I don't wake up in the morning with any burning desire that I have to be president.'

Sanders is widely thought to have popularized liberal positions such as Medicare for all, in which the national health insurance for people 65 and over is expanded to everyone, and a $15 minimum wage, and he said as much himself in the interview.

He accused everyone from Hillary Clinton to mainstream media and 'every op-ed writer in America' of calling him 'crazy' and accusing him of having 'extreme and fringe ideas'. 

'Virtually every one of the issues that I talked about [then] today are mainstream,' he added, 'and today are supported by, in many cases, a vast majority of the American people.'

'If there's somebody else who appears who can, for whatever reason, do a better job than me, I'll work my a** off to elect him or her,' he said.

But 'if it turns out that I am the best candidate to beat Donald Trump, then I will probably run,' Sanders added.

In the interview Sanders also slammed those who continuously brought up his age, saying if gender or race was spoken of in a similar way 'you would go crazy', and that ageism is a real issue in US politics. 

'I thank God, you know, I can't remember the last day - honestly - when I missed work,' the 77-year-old added. 

The 2020 election is still 101 weeks away. But many candidates announce their intentions early in the year prior to the election.

Sanders, who described running for president as 'five Ph.D.'s wrapped up in six months', would likely face intense competition. 

Several other Senate Democrats are considering presidential bids, including Cory Booker, Sherrod Brown, Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar and Elizabeth Warren.

Mayors like New York's Bill de Blasio and Eric Garcetti of Los Angeles are also in the mix, as are former vice president Joe Biden, New York billionaire and former mayor Michael Bloomberg, and Texas congressman Beto O'Rourke, who lost his recent bid to oust Republican Senator Ted Cruz.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
