«Breaking News» SEBASTIAN SHAKESPEARE: Sol Campbell threatens to evict restauranteur popular with Pippa Middleton

A no-nonsense defender during his illustrious playing career, Sol Campbell takes no prisoners off the pitch, either.

I hear the former England captain, who owns an enviable property portfolio, tried to evict one of London’s most fashionable restaurateurs from a building he owns on the King’s Road, Chelsea.

It was Eight Over Eight, Will Ricker’s pan-Asian eaterie, where regular diners include Pippa Middleton and Formula One heiress Tamara Ecclestone.

A notice has been pinned to the window, explaining that the bailiffs had been called in.

‘It’s very sad it came to this, but they had been at odds for some time,’ a local resident tells me.

Ricker, who also owns E&O in Notting Hill, is understood to have fallen foul of Campbell when he decided to carry out major refurbishment works to the property before turning it into the Chelsea branch of E&O.

After what the restaurateur described as ‘considerable renovation’, the new restaurant would ‘benefit from a total uplift’, featuring a ‘chic, emerald horseshoe bar, palms and sumptuous bathrooms’.

It was due to re-open next month, with a ‘re-formulated pan-Asian menu’.

However, yesterday the building looked abandoned, with materials scattered on the floor and no sign of any workmen.

The notice pinned on the window by the bailiffs read: ‘We, as authorised agents for the landlord, have this day re-entered the demised premises in the name that you have breached the lease.

‘Any attempt by any person whatsoever to henceforth enter these premises without the landlord’s express consent will render themselves liable to civil and/or criminal proceedings.’

Sol — whose wife, Fiona, is the granddaughter of Barratt Homes founder Sir Lawrie ‘Brickie’ Barratt — declines to discuss the dispute, telling me: ‘It’s all been dealt with by my lawyers.’

A spokesman for Ricker tells me: ‘The landlord thought we were making structural changes to the building when, in fact, we were just doing just a refurbishment.

‘It’s all been resolved now.’

Steal Amal’s Royal Wedding style — for £160

Glamorous human rights lawyer Amal Clooney looked a million dollars at Prince Harry’s wedding last May, but copying her outfit will be a steal.

The custom-made Stella McCartney dress she sported — which Macca’s daughter later released for sale for a hefty £1,250 — and her matching £260 Stephen Jones hat have now been recreated by High Street chain Monsoon and are selling at a more affordable £99 and £59 respectively.

Replicating Amal’s most prized accessory — husband George — might prove more of a challenge.

Friend of the Royals Nicky Haslam is known for his amusing remarks on what’s stylish and what’s common.

And now the interior designer, 79, (right) is to be honoured by the New Orleans Museum of Art, which has invited him to give a lecture in recognition of his ‘aesthetic, which has been magnetising design cognoscenti around the world since 1972’.

Nicky is also a cabaret singer and tells me after one of his performances at The Pheasantry in Chelsea: ‘I have designed the interiors of several homes in New Orleans.’ Surely, he can squeeze in a concert in New Orleans, the birthplace of jazz?

De Burgh’s birthday serenade for Mellor

Aged 32, he was the youngest minister in Mrs Thatcher’s government. On Saturday, David Mellor embraced elder statesman status when his partner, Penny, Viscountess Cobham, treated him to a 70th birthday dinner party at the Royal Over-Seas League in St James’s, London.

Ken Clarke and Sir Tim Rice gave speeches, while Lords Lamont and Chadlington mingled with the sprightlier forms of violinist Tasmin Little and soprano Elizabeth Llewellyn and 150 other guests, including newsreader Sir Martyn Lewis and former Labour cabinet minister Lord Smith of Finsbury.

But nothing thrilled Mellor more than the musical performances, provided by Maltese tenor Joseph Calleja and, later, Chris de Burgh.

‘Lady In Red and the rest,’ he tells me. ‘Everyone did it for love, which helped the bank balance. Happy Birthday was conducted by Christopher Warren-Green — coming down in the world after conducting the wedding of Harry and Meghan.’

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
