A vegan mother-to-be has vented her fury over suggestions from her husband that she should eat meat during pregnancy.
Writing under the handle 'ElizabethForever', the woman, who has followed a vegan lifestyle since birth, took to British parenting site Mumsnet to ask others how they would respond if a partner suggested they suddenly change their diet.
The woman explained her husband is concerned that meat is necessary for maintaining the health of their baby - although she has never eaten it before.
Responses to her post were divided as many urged her to seek advice on nutrition from a medical professional.

The mother-to-be outlined in her post that she hasn't eaten meat in her entire life and has never had any issues with her iron levels
The first-time mother-to-be went on to add that she's never had problems with her iron levels, and explained that she's upset that her husband would suggest she goes against something which has always been a huge part of her life.
She went on to question if feeling upset by her husband's suggestions was unreasonable or if her hormones were impacting her reaction.
One person responded to her post saying: 'He is no doubt worried, I get why you're upset OP, his suggestions show that he doesn't truly get what a fundamental part of who you are this is.
'As a lifelong vegetarian, I think it's hard for meat eaters to truly understand that, so you probably need to explain it to him and reassure him that you will ensure that you and the baby get all the nutrients you need and will take medical advice about how to do this in a way which is consistent with your beliefs...'
Another said: '...it's not right that he should be so controlling over your diet. Having a baby on the way is anxious time for everyone and perhaps he is being a big clumsy in expressing his concerns.
'Maybe if you had your iron level checked (a good idea for all pregnant women) it would put his mind at ease? Not sure what 'mainly vegan' is tbh'.
A flood of responses to the post sympathized with the woman and argued her husband is unaware of the supplements that can be taken instead of eating meat
Others defended the woman's husband and argued he's not trying to control her diet but has her best interests at heart.
A user speaking under the handle 'YeahNah1980' claimed it's impossible to achieve the optimal nutrition for pregnancy on a vegan diet alone.
'You need B12 and iron and the levels you need in a pregnancy is impossible to get from a vegan diet without supplements.
'Your baby can get very very sick or die if you are breastfeeding as well and aren't getting the right nutrients. I think his intentions are good.'
Another said: 'I think he has good intentions and I don't think he's being unreasonable to bring it up, but it's a question for your doctor surely?
'If you've never had an issue with iron or B12 that doesn't mean you won't have a problem in the future or with this pregnancy (congratulations!) But for your piece of mind ask your doctor if you are likely to need any supplements. (assume you're already on folic acid?)'
Others claimed the woman's husband has her best interests at heart and advised her to speak to a medical professional
A stream of responses to the thread accused the pregnant woman of being controlling after she revealed her husband keeps meat products separately in their household.
One person said: 'YABVU forcing him to keep meat products in the garage; that's very controlling and selfish.
'And yes, I think he has the baby's best interests at heart. You may be willing to put your body under strain but the baby shouldn't suffer.'
Another wrote: '...The control is the other way! The husband has to trek out to the garage if he wants anything animal based? So, milk in coffee for example requires a trip to his designated fridge/freezer. I think that's the controlling part.'
A third added: 'Cannot believe the **** about the freezer, **** off with your controlling comments, it's pathetic! We've got 2 freezers, the one outside is a chest freezer so most of the stuff is out there.
'It's such a hardship to out there and get something...not. It might be husband's choice to put stuff there out of respect for his wife but no, because the wife is vegan it's obviously her fault'.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
