«Breaking News» Pregnant Meghan ditched her engagement ring today

Eagle-eyed royal fans were quick to notice that the Duchess of Sussex wasn't wearing her engagement ring as she attended royal functions with Prince Harry in London today.

Meghan, 37, who is expecting her first child with the Duke of Sussex, 34, in late April, was photographed wearing only her wedding ring during a visit to Canada House and Westminster Abbey.

It is thought to be a sign of her advanced pregnancy, as many women find their fingers swell too much to wear their favourite jewellery.

The stunning engagement ring, which was designed by her husband, features three diamonds - one a single solitaire from Botswana and two from his mother Diana's personal collection, set on a yellow gold band.

Despite ditching her engagement ring, Meghan didn't go completely without as she still donned her wedding band, which is made of rare Welsh gold and was gifted to the expectant parents by The Queen.

Pregnant Meghan also sported a simple gold ring on her left thumb during Monday’s outings.

With swelling a very common side affect of pregnant, it is quite possible that the Duchess, who is eight months gone, is finding it harder and harder to wear jewels as her due date nears.

The common condition, which is known as oedema, usually affects the legs, feet and ankles of pregnant women, but it can also spread to their fingers.

As the baby grows, its womb presses against the mother's blood vessels in her pelvis, which affects a large vein on the right-hand side, called the inferior vena cava.

The pressure of the baby and womb slows blood circulation in that area and causes the blood to pool, which forces water down into feet and ankles.

The swelling can become even worse as the days goes by, as the build-up of water increases gravity and draws it downwards.

Towards the end of the pregnancy the swelling can reach the hands, causing rings to become tighter around the fingers.

But while there was one accessory clearly missing, Meghan still stunned in a custom-made green embellished coat and matching dress by Canadian designer Erdem as she arrived at Canada House this morning.

She was joined by Prince Harry as they spoke with young Canadians from a wide range of sectors including fashion, the arts, business and academia.

The Duchess of Sussex teamed the bottle green ensemble, which is estimated to have cost around £8, 000, with a Givenchy clutch, £568 Maison Birks opal earrings and a £363 Kismet by Milka bracelet, bringing the total to almost £9,000.

After a quick outfit change, the mother-to-be opted for a chain-print Victoria Beckham dress and wore matching accessories from the same designer as she attended the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey.

Commonwealth Day has a special significance this year, as 2019 marks the 70th anniversary of the modern Commonwealth - a global network of 53 countries and almost 2.4 billion people.

While Victoria Beckham doesn't usually create bespoke pieces, it is believed Meghan's coat alone is worth an estimated £4,000 and the dress £3,000, plus a further £2,000 for the custom bag and shoes - bringing the total to £9,000.

What is Oedema?

Swelling (also called oedema) affects pregnant women throughout their pregnancies, at different levels

The swelling becomes more noticeable as the baby grows

The swelling is due to the pressure of the womb on major veins that receive blood from the lower limbs

It usually affects the legs, feet and ankles of pregnant women but can also spread to their fingers in the last stages of the pregnancy

The pressure of the baby and womb slows blood circulation in that area and causes the blood to pool, which forces water down into feet and ankles

Towards the end of the pregnancy the swelling can reach the hands and rings become tighter around fingers, which is why many pregnant women get rid of their jewellery

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
