The House will vote Thursday on a resolution condemning anti-Semitism after internecine war has developed among Democrats over comments from freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar, leaving Speaker Nancy Pelosi struggling to control her unruly members and defending the freshman lawmaker.
Leadership is pushing the vote in the hopes the party can move past the controversy that has engulfed Democrats and brought about the wrath of Republicans.
Pelosi has defended the freshman lawmaker, saying she doesn't think she was 'intentionally' prejudicial.
'I don't think so, and I don't think this is just about comments by Congresswoman Omar, which I do not think were intentionally anti-Semitic,' she told NBC News.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi is defending freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar's comments
Democrats in the House of Representatives will vote Thursday on a resolution condemning anti-Semitism following anti-Israel comments by Ilhan Omar
Omar, who is one of the first Muslim women in Congress, came under fire for suggesting last Friday that supporters of Israel were urging lawmakers to have 'allegiance to a foreign country.'
Her words have split Democrats down the middle and left Pelosi in a bind: too harsh a resolution would alienate the liberal lawmakers - led by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez - who have rallied to Omar's side but not harsh enough will anger powerful Jewish lawmakers and their supporters, who vote Democratic and contribute heavily to the party.
The wording of the resolution has also caused a rift among Democrats.
Liberals and outside groups have pushed to include anti-Muslim bias, which Pelosi and Majority Whip Steny Hoyer are said to be including.
The text of resolution will be available later Thursday.
'What I expect to be doing is passing a very significant reform bill with overwhelming Democratic support, perhaps unanimous,' Hoyer told reporters in the Capitol on Thursday morning.
The vote, originally scheduled for Wednesday, was postponed among the outrage.
The controversy has tried leadership patience and overshadowed their top legislation priority: an election and ethics reform bill scheduled for a Friday vote.

Leadership is pushing ...
It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
