«Breaking News» Most tower blocks with Grenfell-style cladding are yet to have it removed

Eight out of 10 tower blocks wrapped in dangerous Grenfell Tower-style cladding are yet to have it removed, according to the latest Government figures.

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government said 354 high-rise residential and public buildings with cladding systems unlikely to meet building regulations are yet to be renovated.

Seventy-nine high-rise buildings in England have had remediation works completed, according to the monthly data release. The rate of progress is so slow it could take another five years to complete.

The combustible cladding panels installed on Grenfell Tower were thought to be a key factor in the tragedy on June 14 last year, which killed 72 people

The Government said, of the buildings yet to be remediated, 117 are social sector residential buildings, 228 are private sector buildings and nine are publicly-owned.

Work to remove the cladding has begun on 84 of the social sector buildings, and 32 have a remediation plan in place.

Shadow housing minister Sarah Jones said: 'Yet again we are faced with the reality of this Government's reckless approach to fire safety in tower blocks.

'Almost two years on from the Grenfell tragedy, more than eight out of 10 blocks with deadly Grenfell-style cladding are still draped in it.

'The news today that families of Grenfell victims must wait until 2021 for justice simply adds to the feeling that focus has slipped from this crucial issue.'

Earlier this week it emerged detectives investigating possible criminal offences in relation to the Grenfell Tower fire will be 'unlikely' to pass their findings to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) before the second half of 2021.

In a statement the Metropolitan Police said: 'Since the launch of the criminal investigation into the Grenfell Tower fire, the Met has been working closely with the Crown Prosecution Service.

'As the Grenfell Tower Inquiry (GTI) has progressed, both the police senior investigating officer and the CPS agree that the police investigation must take into account any findings or reports produced by the GTI, including its final report.

'If the police investigation concludes there is sufficient evidence to consider criminal charges in relation to the fire, a file will be submitted to the CPS for its consideration.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
